Describe your topic of interest and why it is important to you
My topic of interest is emotional and behavioral disorders of special education students. This topic is important to me for the reason that these disorders are those that take place over a protracted period of time and hinder children from prospering not only from an educational standpoint but also from a social perspective. Taking this into consideration, I believe that it is imperative to delve into this topic extensively in order to ascertain the suitable special education services to the student and providing education in a special classroom (Braxton, 2004). Aspects such as visual modification, less cluttering and individual work stations are aspects necessitated by teachers. Furthermore, when these disorders usually generate issues for the student, they can be addressed and dealt with support, conducting accommodations together with specially designed instructions. Moreover, this topic is important to me for the reason that when students with emotional and behavioral disorders are provided with special education services especially in self-contained classrooms, their responses are positive. What is more, students experiencing emotional and behavioral disturbances are more often than not an enigmatic, intricate issue for teachers do address within the school setting. Usually, these students may appear as if they are outsiders, evade interrelating with other students in the classroom and even the adults such as teachers. They might also get into skirmishes and fights with their classmates or participate in behaviors that can lead to injuries to themselves. Most of all, their academic performance is more often than not significantly lower compared to the rest of the students. It is imperative that when these symptoms and indications keep on the teacher ought to start trying to delve into emotional and behavioral disorders and the manner in which such students may qualify for and also profit from special education service (Brownell et al., 2005). I also believe that by delving into this topic, we obtain great insight into the skills necessitated by the special education teachers (Woolf, 2018). Therefore, this topic is of great interest and importance to me because it will provide significant insight on how to deal with such students and provide them with the special and quality level of education that they need.

Key words are basically the search terms that are included into the academic database such as Ebscohost to delineate the topic of the items that a person wishes to obtain. The key words play a great part in helping with searches owing to the reason that the academic database will word-match the key words that have been entered into the search engine against the text of the article and subsequently render outcomes that are corresponding to what is entered. Furthermore, the significant advantage of using key words is the accuracy owing to the fact that the academic databases search for the exact key words that have been typed in (Walden University, 2018). Comprehending how to find what is required in electronic databases such as EBSCOhost is a potent skill and the key words employed by the user play a pivotal role in determining whether the search will be successful and beneficial. They play an important role for the reason that they signify the fundamental concepts or ideas in the topic being discussed.

As initially pointed out, my topic of interest is emotional and behavioral disorders of special education students. Taking this into consideration, the key words that I used for my searches included:

What are “search limiters” and how do they help with searches?

Basically, search limiters enable a user to narrow the focus of what is being searched in the database so that the information obtained from the database is restricted in accordance to the values selected. The specific way in which search limiters help with the searches is that they enable a searcher or a user to narrow down search results to the distinctive criteria that is established in the advanced search area of the database (Tensen, 2012).

What does “peer reviewed” mean Why is it important to conduct research?
Peer review takes into account incorporating subjecting the scholarly work as well as research of the author to the criticism and examination of other specialists in the similar field to check whether the work and research is valid and assess whether it is suitable for publication. In essence, peer review is a scholarly term for quality control. Basically, every article that goes through publication within a peer reviewed journal was critically investigated by a group of reviewers who are specialists on the topic of the article. In essence, these assessors search for or try to find proper utilization of research methodologies, importance of the paper’s contribution to the prevailing literature and assimilation of preceding authors’ work on the topic in any debate. Basically, published articles or papers that are deemed to be peer-reviewed are approved by experts and are considered to be the most convincing sources of information for research papers at the university level. In contrast, articles that are published in renowned publications, for instance, magazines, websites and newspapers, are usually done so with very little examination or editing. Despite the fact that these articles are interesting and fascinating to read, they cannot be deemed adequate to support research work at an academic level unlike peer-reviewed work (Coulter, 2017).
Peer review plays an important role in research. Imperatively, it enables the users to perceive the perspectives of experts on the topic being examined. Therefore, this makes it possible for an individual to get rid of personal bias. It is beneficial to take into consideration the merits of peers’ perspectives and not be blinded by one’s own preconceptions. Secondly, peer review makes it possible to compile valid work and make it reliable. What is more, it is a significant process that the author has to endure prior to publication of works in order to guarantee excellence. Furthermore, once the quality of the publication is warranted, then it subsequently becomes a key basis for other authors to utilize as literature review and aid in the progression of knowledge in the field or area of research. Nonetheless, it is imperative to point out that this is not an infallible process of generating quality work owing to the reason that each and every individual is cause to experience blunders and individual bias (Regoniel, 2013).
Comment on what you learned from two of the suggested Library resources?
I have learnt quite a number of things from the suggested library resources. These library resources such as EBCOhost and EBSCOhost Education Research Complete provide both basic and advanced search options. Notably, the advanced search option makes it possible for the user to gain flexibility and tractability whist conducting searches. For instance, in EBSCOhost, the advanced search option offers three key word search options to different distinct terminologies or phrases in addition to capabilities to search within particular parts of every record. Specifically, the library resources provide the users, both novel and experienced, with a range of features to improve and polish search results. In addition, I have learnt that it is possible to obtain reliable, valid and wide ranging peer-reviewed content. These resources offer articles of high quality accredited by respectable publishers acknowledged by experts and professionals, selected to meet the distinctive needs of researchers. Furthermore, I have learnt that it is possible to attain customization. This is in the sense that within the library resources, I have been able to modify the interface branding and features encompassing aspects such as search limiters, the user’s language preferences, expanders, year options, type of document, link options and several others. These options facilitate the ability to narrow down and refine the search results.
