Terrorism has expanded into every nook and corner of the world today. A terrorist today, does not appear with a distinctive personality but rather blends with the society leaving security experts with little clue. While organized crimes are mostly economically motivated, terrorism is on an entirely different footing. Religious and cultural fanatism are the main motivational factors for terrorist outfits. Only if there is effective information sharing between the different nations is it possible to avert terrorist attacks before they happen. However, such information sharing is precisely the problem with countries or insurgent zones where ideological differences and religious fanatism rule supreme. It is important to assess the underlying socio economic situation in a region as an important contributing factor to terror. Only when such a grass root approach is taken would it be possible to anticipate and eliminate terror before it creates havoc.
