They say this drives them to migrate away from rural communities to be economically self-sufficient, or to languish in abhorrent conditions, physically, psychologically, and socially. It could be argued, again to make a poor pun, the chickens are coming home to roost, as poor sanitation, and education about sanitation have exacerbated the regional public health crisis of the Asian bird flu, an epidemic of poor sanitation that is exacerbated in the country, but has since hurt tourism and economic development in the city.
