Describe how best to filter out the pandering and proselytizing that some politicians and even some public officials engage in (TSA, 2013). Find the best methods of getting the best feedback from the people that know the tactics and technologies the best. Sources of great information can range from current and former TSA employees, airline staff and crew members, baggage handlers, vendors and corporations that provide the scanners and other equipment for the airports and airlines to use, and so forth. Elicit feedback regarding recent news items and initiatives such as whether to allow small knives and other usually innocuous but potentially dangerous items onto airplanes (TSA, 2013).

Program Outcomes that will be Addressed by This Question

PO #1

Students will be able to apply the fundamentals of air transportation as part of a global, multimodal transportation system, including the technological, social, environmental, and political aspects of the system to examine, compare, analyze and recommend conclusion.

The technological aspect will be addressed by an exploration of TSA agents supposedly being able to ogle over the digital undressing of passengers has a huge amount of social, technological and political aspects even with the concerns about flight safety and how far the TSA can or should go. Privacy concerns are just one example of this. Having one's privacy violated, even in the name of safety, is viewed as denigrating to a lot of people. Some counter that no one is forcing anyone to fly and it is part of the safety equation. However, as 9/11 proved, not all security plans and counter-measures are successful and, at least at that time, there were a lot of weaknesses and holes to exploit in the system (TSA, 2013).

The social and political portions of the outcome will be explored via a review and discussion of the subject of TSA pat-downs and other security measures...

While it would be best if politicians did not sometimes demagogue or otherwise distort or inflate the issues, but it happens all of the time. This demagoguery manifests itself in a number of ways. For example, some people actively advocate using the aforementioned Israeli method of profiling based on the actual past and present profiles of hijackers and other miscreants but others say that profiling by race is never acceptable no matter what the motivation is and/or that innocent people end up getting slimed, hurt or even just inconvenienced by people that treat them like hoodlums just because of their race or nation, their name or their country or origin (TSA, 2013).
Finally, the environmental concerns surrounding the outcome could be construed to include the question of the social standards that people recoil greatly about when they're crossed. The environmental question can interlaced with the social and political dynamics as the political/social "environment" is something that always has to be taken seriously when discussing air safety and privacy protections. Complicating that dynamic even more is that people have varying levels of acceptance and tolerance for TSA tactics and tools. Some just accept it as part of the flying experience or they are otherwise indifferent. The other extreme are people that refuse to fly for the TSA tactics alone and people like this often throw around the word "Gestapo" casually (no matter how specious such terminology is). The rest are in the middle and whine and complain about it but put up with it because they have somewhere they need or want to be (TSA, 2013).
