While the movie seemed to remain on path with regard to an accurate portrayal of how the juvenile justice system works there were several areas in which the movie does not promote real life. One of the things the movie does for the sake of Hollywood is downplaying the seriousness of the crimes and offenses that the juveniles in the film committed. While the movie makes them out to be sensitive boys who only want to reunite with their mommies, the fact remains that the young men in that particular facility were there for extremely serious offenses.

Not only was it evidenced that the system is working overtime to address the nations' criminal problem but it was open and honest about the problems that are being encountered along the way.
The movie Gridiron Gang is for the most part an accurate portrayal to the many points that were learned in class, however the reality of how hardened many of the juveniles become before getting into the type of facility shown in the movie is downplayed. In real life it will take much longer than four weeks to turn around the attitudes of such hardened adolescents. The class provided an excellent foundation to understand the realities of criminal justice. The movie accurately portrayed some of the issues that are involved while softening the blow so the audience would love the convicts.
