In this way, I will not only meet my own personal goals, but I will help fulfill the goals of my employees, and the goals of my organization as well. Five Behaviors that Would Make Me a Better Leader:

Improved confidence in my abilities would make me a better leader. I should not second guess myself or my decisions. I should rely on my strengths and my experience and trust that I am making the best decisions possible.

I should also reanalyze the situations I am in to adjust my leadership style accordingly.

Although I personally have good relationships with many employees, I should foster these relationships, and build new ones with those I have yet to develop relationships with. I could also use the Least Preferred Co-Workers Scale to better my motivational abilities.

How I Can Develop My Leadership Behaviors:

Better understanding my own personal leadership style will help me develop my leadership behaviors. I not only will have a better understanding of where my strengths lie, but also where I can continue to improve. To this end, further assessment should be done.

In the meantime, I can begin to work on the areas where I feel I need the most improvement. Some areas, such as being more decisive and being more self-confident will simply take practice. There is little I can do to improve in these areas other than by simply doing it. This may mean faking self-confidence and forcing decisiveness until experience reiterates to me that I am able to do these things naturally. Whether it be specifically discussing leadership styles or talking about motivational theories or any other aspect of management, each piece of the puzzle will only make me a better leader in the end.
My Purpose, Cause and Calling Linked to My Evolution as a Leader:

My career is the same as it was before I began this assignment. However, my role, I believe has changed dramatically. Before this assignment, I felt that leadership was about leading. Directing others towards an end goal set by the organization, was what I thought leadership was about. However, this assignment made me realize that leadership is more about creating a desire to follow, in employees, than actually directing them.

Only by creating situations that facilitate employee development, give them opportunities for growth and success, will they willingly follow. This understanding that a win-win situation must be created to inspire others to greatness is what will separate me from being a boss, to being a leader. With this basis of leadership, no matter what the situation delivers, I believe I am well-suited for any leadership role in the organization.
