In other words, marketing refers to the accumulation of consumer demand, allocating resources, and generating the greatest possible benefit by effective communication with customers. And thus it can be said that it is a vital part of running an organization.

Role it plays in business strategy overall Streamlines Product Development Goods and services are produced with the help of a marketing strategy in such a way that generates the most profit. Organizational impact All departments can coordinate and work collectively since they are working towards the same objective. Assists with Marketing Communications With the help of market research, a distinguished brand or reputation of the business can be created.

Establishes Effective Distribution Once the important decisions regarding the product have been taken such as the product features, target market, selling price, the most profitable means can be decided. Helps Determine Optimal Prices Market research helps decide the most optimal price for a product or service. Streamlines Product Development Marketing helps develop the product or service in such a manner that is going to make the maximum profit for a business.

(Ashe-Edmunds, 2016) Is marketing good or bad for our society? Marketing, the most part of it, does not harm any customers, firms or society. The exchange of goods and services is valuable for both parties: the buyers and the sellers. These exchanges are based on mutual trust and agreement and are the reason that societies stick together and progress. However, good marketing is necessary to bring about progressive results; good marketing can create responsible consumer choice that can lead to economic growth through increased consumption.

Informative advertisement of goods and services, involving consumers in the production and taking ideas from them, bringing innovations to the market and targeting the clientele are all characteristics of a good marketer.

Walmart and Google, despite being infamous, have the mission statements claims to "lower the cost of living of everyone everywhere" and to "organize the world's information and make it accessible to everyone." (Quelch & Jocz, 2008) The debate on whether marketing is good or bad may be irrelevant since in every economic system which is nearing commercialism, marketing takes place naturally, eventually. In free market economies e.g.

USA, consumer demand makes up 70% of the country output whereas in Soviet Russia, where communalism prevails, a significant proportion of production capacity and resources had to be allocated to meet that demand. Furthermore, the allocation of resources or factors of production, which is one the most important decisions, are taken keeping the creation of effective demand in mind. This is where Marketing enters. Economically, marketing is criticised for creating demand rather than simply attending to existing demand that leads to misallocation and waste of valuable economic resources.

The example of the economic climax of $1,000 handbags or $5 lattes shows the cons of marketing according to critics. The fact that marketing in the 18th century Europe was an unfamiliar concept in spite of the boom in furs and tulips, shows that there are substantial economic, social and cultural reasons why consumer demand is so relevant and meaningful. And therefore, it can be concluded that marketing is good for a society.

To support this conclusion, below is a short list of why marketing is beneficial for an economy: It creates employment opportunities in marketing industry as well as other industries linked with it. Consumption and customer demand rises. Competition among businesses increases which gives way to cost effectiveness Economic growth occurs, leading to improved living conditions.
