VLs house in the living room

Good morning VL?

-I bend down next to VL on the couch to make eye contact

VL whats wrong?

I am still kneeling, awaiting eye contact

What blanket was it?

Can we call the company and see if they, have it?

I am looking at VL, who is looking at her mother

Maybe I can get you another one?

-I have now made eye contact with VL

I am looking at VLs mom.

Thats where she gets it from

-I pull out my phone and open the amazon app.

I press purchase

No answer. VL is sitting on the couch next to her mother with her head resting on her mother's lap.

I lost my blanket at the party VL is sat. She continues to lay down. She does not make eye contact.

Its the pink one that I always have. Someone took it.

VLS mother: No one took it. You left it inside the bounce house.

VL: Mommy did and they said it's not there.

VLs mother: She needs to be more careful with her stuff....

It shouldnt have been outside anyway.

VL: But if I didnt bring it my baby would have been cold. You only bought one dress.

VLs mother: Stop now. Your dolls have plenty of dresses. You lost it and thats it. You have 10 other blankets.

VL: It was my only Cinderella blanket

VL is noticeably sad. She is rubbing her hands down her mother's legs. She continues to look down. No eye contact

From where, Amazon?

VL is looking at me. She is excited. She is now sitting up.

VLs mom and I laugh.

VLs mother; Shes too much

VL looks up. She then walks over to...

…is concerned.

In purchasing a new blanket for VL, I inadvertently rewarded negative behavior. The goal should have been to decrease the frequency of an undesirable behavior, i.e. VLs tendency to be careless with her stuff.

To ensure that VL takes greater care of her stuff, it would have been more effective to apply punishment. In essence, like reinforcement, punishment can work either by directly applying an unpleasant stimulus or by removing a potentially rewarding stimulus (Lattal and Chase, 2013, p. 197). In VLs case, I would be in favor of the application of an undesirable consequence for the loss of any of her items (the blanket in the present scenario).

-The unpleasant stimulus in this case would be refusal to replace the blanket for a specified period of time, i.e. one month. While the immediate replacement of a lost item could be seen as rewarding negative behavior, the delayed replacement of…

Therefore Clinton can be said to have generally followed a realist foreign policy program in Kosovo, yet due to changes in the international system which made it problematic to cut too many deals with dictators and war-criminals like Milosevich, a more conflictive approach to the issue was created. National interest, while predominant, was no longer the only consideration. One of the problems with a constructivist understanding of the war though,
