Job satisfaction is one of the most important things within a company and organizational behavior regards this concept as a key aspect concerning work attitudes. Genetics plays a significant role when regarding job satisfaction as people are more probable to express interest in jobs that they identify with. Genetic factors apparently account for approximately thirty percent of people's interest in particular jobs, this making it possible for someone to understand why it is difficult for many individuals to appreciate certain jobs. The other seventy percent accounts for the role that a series of other factors play in a person's overall appreciation of his or her job. Managers can thus influence approximately seventy percent of their employees' job satisfaction because of the role they play within a company and because this is likely to improve conditions in the firm in general.

A workplace where employees are dissatisfied can experience a series of problems and has great difficulties seeing reform or improvement. Being dissatisfied with one's job can influence the respective individual to express little to no interest in the overall well-being of the company. He or she is likely to consider leaving the company and thus feels less inclined to play an active role within the firm. "Recent research suggests that dissatisfaction can actually be an impetus for change and improvement in an organization to the extent that an organization provides a supportive environment. (78) Job satisfaction is apparently directly proportional to creativity on the job, thus meaning that employees who are satisfied with their job are typically unhesitant about trying to improve conditions in the company and to do everything in their power with the purpose to make it possible for their colleagues to thrive as a body rather than for them to be successful on their own.

While some (those involving services in particular) domains require more employee satisfaction in comparison to others, job satisfaction as a whole can make the difference between a successful company and one in which employees are solely working for the financial aspect of their jobs. Employees who are enthusiastic and determined normally support the goals of the companies they are working in. This means that they become more concerned about having the company experience success and that managers would have to focus on increasing satisfaction in the workplace in order to have employees to go through great efforts with the purpose to help the company.

Job satisfaction is among the topics most discussed in organizational management, both because the complex ideas that it entails and because many managers ignore this aspect on account of how they fail to understand the importance it plays in their companies. In order to remain competitive in the domain it operates in, a company has to focus on its most favorable position. This respective position involves a series of factors and one of them relates to job satisfaction among employees.
