¶ … Skills and Capabilities How my Skills and Knowledge will Benefit the Bureau of Organized Crime The relevance of having the most qualified and skilled personnel at one of Chicago Police Department's most important arms in the fight against illegal narcotics and gang activity cannot be overstated. I am convinced that I have the relevant knowledge and skills to not only successfully serve, but to also be of great benefit to the Bureau of Organized Crime. I will elaborate.
To begin with, during the time I have been in service as a Chicago Police Officer, I have gained practical skills in policing and further enhanced my basic recruit training in such areas as report writing, drugs, and gangs. These are skills that I intend to actively utilize in my new role. It is also important to note that the changing nature of organized crime needs a different and more efficient approach -- and hence a new set of skills.
Today, unlike was the case a couple of years ago, criminals in organized crime groups are increasingly making use of the globalization of both commerce and communications to facilitate their activities. For instance, criminals in the said organized crime groups are actively using technology to transfer money across boarders, while at the same time continuously utilizing diverse avenues of technology to avoid both detection and investigation.
In that regard, therefore, police officers actively engaged in the fight against organized crime enterprises must possess the relevant skills and knowhow to combat modern day organized crime. In addition to having basic computer knowledge, I also have sound understanding of cybercrime, having developed keen interest in the latter while still in college. These are skills I would certainly make use of to the benefit of the Bureau of Organized Crime.
The relevance of group effort and team work cannot be overstated when it comes to the fight against organized crime. I am a staunch believer in group effort, as opposed to individual effort. This is particularly the case given that a team environment facilitates the sharing of ideas, enhances efficiency, and allows for the distribution of the workload. Naturally, I am a people's person and tend to relate well with others. I also tend to be articulate and embrace dialogue and consultation in the execution of my duties and responsibilities.
In that regard, therefore, I will be seeking to promote teamwork as an officer in the Organized Crime Unit by amongst other things relating well with other officers. I am also convinced that as an officer serving in.
