In any kind of profession and industry, communication plays a vital role in the smooth operation and management of a work environment. In a hospital environment, it is a very important element to observe proper communication and interaction to allow an effective workflow and service that hospitals must render to its patient.

One example of communication technique is gender communication. This type of communication involves an interaction between males and females. Gender communication is usually demonstrated in work-related interactions of the hospital staffs such as the male doctors and the female nurses. Through an effective gender communication, the hospital staffs were able to deliver valuable healthcare services to their patients, without the barriers of gender discrimination that exist in other work environments.
Another communication technique that exists in the hospital that I audited is body communication. Though this type of communication may be considered as an informal type of communication, it can still be considered as an effective technique in work activities in the hospital. This technique is usually demonstrated during sensitive situations in the hospital, such as the announcement of a terminal disease of a patient, or even during the death of a patient.

With an effective body communication, hospital staffs can converse to each other without the need of saying words that may worsen sensitive situations.
