¶ … Physical Therapy as My Career of Choice There are a wide range of distinct careers paths one could choose to follow in health care. These include but that are not limited to pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, occupational therapy, epidemiology, etc. I chose to pursue physical therapy.

From quite an early age, I have always wanted to work in the health care field. At first, I wanted to be a dentist. I remember one particular night when a toothache I had couldn't let me sleep. Indeed, I still regard that night the worst night of my life. A simple toothache could effectively mess up your day especially when you can't access immediate medical attention. Those who have had issues with their teeth can bear me witness on this. The next morning, I was the first patient at the dentist's office. After the standard procedure of extracting the offending tooth, the pain was gone. The dentist had made my pain go away. Immediately, I knew what...

The dentist in this particular case had alleviated my suffering and made my life comfortable again. I could now sleep well, play with friends, and watch my favorite cartoons without any distraction.
When growing up, I came to realize that apart from dentistry, there were many other health professions I could get into. I have always loved helping others. There is nothing that makes me happier than putting a smile on someone's face. A documentary I watched a few years ago regarding the challenges some accident victims go through in seeking to reconstruct their lives convinced me to settle on physical therapy as my career of choice. Here were some people used to having their full functionality only for their capabilities to be suddenly limited by a neck or back injury.
