One area in which I feel like I made a positive contribution to the team and exceeded standards was through the education of nursing fundamentals for the OR, SICU and Cath LAB nurses. For example, to provide a framework for education grand rounds instituted and seemed to have a positive effect on the staff in regards to learning. Other areas in which I believe that I exceeded standards would be in the program-patient flow, process improvement, communication, and the hand-off of patient information. There were also service-implemented changes made that including items such as converting from the reprocessing of AV temporary pacing cables to disposable pacing cables which are better suited for reduction in RSSI, adding cost measurements to streamline the use of medical packs, organized shelf inventory (valves and/or supplies), improved Huddle-Time-out and Debrief meetings to national standards as well as the OR counting process for tissue valves and grafts compliance which was improved to national standards

Yes. I believe that I could improve my understanding of group dynamics which would allow me to acquire more management capabilities. Although I had success implementing many changes, getting the group to accept the changes was frustrating at times. Therefore I believe that studying group dynamics would allow me a better understanding of how to implement various organizational changes and overcome resistance in a more effective and efficient manner.

4. Describe your greatest accomplishments?

I am very proud of the fact that I was able to develop the infrastructure of a novice cardiac surgery program to an advance cardiac surgery center.

5. What have been your most significant challenges?

One of the most significant challenges I face was in engaging the seasoned staff in regard to innovations and technology used in the cardiac surgery center.

6. How may I assist you?

I would like to develop my skills in regard to creating an atmosphere that promotes team building. I have recognized that function as a more cohesive group would allow a better capacity to implement organizational changes and I would appreciate assistance in being able to develop more team building skills.
