¶ … Presswire and ran in December of 1999. It comes from compiled information from various sources and does not list a specific author. The article deals with an Internet business show and how many of the Internet leaders of the time called it the industry event of the year. It details a conference that was held and how everyone who attended seemed to think that it was an extremely high-quality event that they believed to be very important and significant. While there is no disagreement with the fact that it probably was a high-quality event, there is disagreement in the idea that the Internet business market is not doing as well as many people want to make it sound. One of the gentleman interviewed in the article stated that everyone was looking towards the Web in ever increasing numbers and that many of the sales that were made during the two days of the show gave concrete proof of that statement. While it is likely that sales were very good during the show, this is not a guarantee that the Web will continue to expand. Given the dotcom collapse of not that long ago and the problems that e-books and others are having on the Internet,...

It is very difficult to tell, when one uses the Internet, whether something is legitimate information. Even if it comes from a source that one recognizes and that seems legitimate, this does not mean that the information is necessarily completely accurate. The same is true of other forms of media such as television and radio, but the main quality issue with the Internet is that there is so much information available. Anyone can create a web page, whether they are doing it for individual or business use, and the quality of many of these…

The second article up for discussion details Pacific WebWorks and how they have entered into an agreement with Internet Business Systems. This article comes from the business editors and high-tech writers at Business Wire and ran in May of 2000. The main point of the article is the resale agreement that these two companies have entered into so that some of their software can be sold at various business seminars. They believe that by doing this they will be able to make more sales and possibly interest additional individuals that wish to resell many of the Internet products that Pacific WebWorks makes. The Vice President of Sales of that company sees this business relationship as something that will cause more revenue. He indicates that a relationship such as this one gives Pacific WebWorks a relatively inexpensive way to be able to contact a market that they normally do not sell to. They see this market as small and medium-sized business owners.

While their strategy makes sense, many small and medium-sized business owners do not have this type of software either because they cannot afford it or because they do not need it. The quality of the products that Pacific WebWorks creates renders them rather expensive and many who run small businesses have to make do with less costly products, even if the quality of what they create is not quite as high as the quality of some of the other Web tools that are available.

It is unlikely that this relationship will hurt either company in any way, so they really cannot lose much by trying this. However, it also seems unlikely that they will do much business in this regard simply because of the cost factor involved. They are not going to sell their software any cheaper, and those that have small businesses are not going to pay more for this software when they can use something that costs less and that they can more easily afford.
