This Project Charter presents the preliminary findings of my investigation into the feasibility of your project to create a soap manufacturing company within the community that deals with not only scented soaps but also natural soaps. These soaps are environmental friendly as the production process does not encompass pollution and the soaps do not hurt the human skin and also the environment as well. This report also outlines my proposal of the procedures and schedule to be followed during this project. If you find any discrepancies or misconceptions, please bring them to my immediate attention.

PRELIMINARY FINDINGS AND ANALYSIS

After a brief, preliminary investigation of the system being studied, I offer the following observations and initial analysis.

Project Description

This section of the report describes the history that led to this project and the proposed project scope.

This subsection should include a brief history of the current system, its users, and what led to this project. The key word here is HISTORY. Describe the history of the system. How did the current system come about? How well did it fulfill the clients needs? Over time, did anything take place (growth, government regulations, etc...) that caused the system to become obsolete or ineffective - subsequently leading to the submission of the project request?>

Scope of this Project. In the coming weeks, I will be carefully analyzing the project's scope to define a reasonable target and schedule. In the meantime, my preliminary definition is as follows:

The project will address the following business functions:

1. Natural Soaps

The human skin is an important part of the human body. Not only is it the physical or external part of the body that is exposed at all times, but it is also quite sensitive. As such, there is a great need for taking care of the human skin. In the present times, there has been a great recognition and inclination for natural products which are made of natural extracts such as aloe vera. Taking this into consideration, this particular project seeks to come up with natural product soaps, both scented and non-scented to cater to the new needs of the consumers.

2. Pollution

Manufacturing companies for a long time have been scrutinized for the pollutants that are emitted to the environment resulting from their processing activities. However, this aspect has lately become a big issue with the aspect of climate change. This project seeks to refine or fine-tune the manufacturing practices by coming up with ways that are not harmful to the environment in any way.

This section of the survey describes the project environment in terms of project participants, problems, and opportunities to be addressed, and project constraints that will or may limit eventual solutions. Figure 1 represents a context diagram of the current system.

Problems and Opportunities. I have compiled the following list of problems and opportunities to be addressed in the project. The list is not final. In the coming weeks, I will modify the list and provide you with a detailed analysis of problems, opportunities, and solutions. At any time during this project, you should feel free to add to, subtract from, or expand upon this preliminary list.

1. One of the problems addressed in this project is the aspect of pollution. With the aspect of sustainability and the need to take care of the environment, the project comes up with ways to produce the products that are not harmful to the environment or bring about pollutants (Shrivastava, 1995).

2. The project also takes into consideration the need to come up with natural products. In the contemporary times, there is greater necessity and demand from the consumers for natural products devoid of any additives or condiments that are manufactures. The project will come up with products that are created purely from natural extracts and that are healthy and good for the human skin.

Project Constraints. Project constraints are limitations, good or bad, that will or may affect any solutions that I might propose. Constraints can be technical, monetary, time, or political. As of now, I have identified the following preliminary list:

1. Monetary constraints. The machinery and equipment required in the project are quite costly and the prevailing capital amounts cannot be deemed sufficient for the purchases.

2. There are also technical limitations or constraints. This is with regards to the personnel. There is a limitation of proficient personnel who have a firm grasp of what processes and procedures are required for the production of the product. Another technical limitation is the backup technological inadequacy in the area. The equipments needed in this project are not available in the region and therefore have to be procured from elsewhere. This not only increases the costs incurred but also bring about the need for personnel to train the other personnel (Aterido and Hallward-Driemeier, 2009).

Preliminary Solutions and Ideas

My project approach will eventually examine numerous alternative system solutions, and it would be premature to commit to any solution at this time. However, it is never too early to begin brainstorming and cataloging ideas.

Client's perceptions of what they want or expect. It is my understanding that you envision a new or improved product that:

1. Is gentle and smooth to the skin

2. Does not have musky scents that are piercing

Natural Soaps Project is intended to meet the changing needs of the consumers and at the same time sustain the environment as a whole. This Project Charter presents the initial discoveries of my investigation into the feasibility of your project to create a soap manufacturing company within the community that deals with not only scented soaps but also natural soaps. These soaps are purposed to be environmental friendly as the production process does not encompass pollution and the soaps are kind to the human skin and to the environment as well.
