This increased efficiency means EVs use less energy to travel the same distance as ICE vehicles, contributing to both cost savings and reduced overall energy consumption.

Moreover, EVs offer strong potential for integration with renewable energy sources. Albatayneh et al. highlight this point directly: "While the EV supplied by coal-fired and diesel power plants have approximately the same WTW [well-to-wheel] efficiency ranging between 13% to 27% and 12% to 25%, respectively. If renewable energy is used, the losses will drop significantly and the overall efficiency for electric cars will be around 40–70% depending on the source and the location of the renewable energy systems" (669). Pairing EV charging infrastructure with clean energy sources is all it takes to make EVs dramatically more efficient than ICE cars across the entire energy supply chain.
