Dada or Dadism is a form of art that was considered very controversial when it was created due to the political and cultural statements that it made. Dadism was a protest of the violence of human nature specifically war and its atrocities. Personally I feel that Dadism is a form of art that should be cherished, preserved and appreciated because it has a lot to offer not only in a historical and political sense but also culturally and artistically. I enjoy the liberty and style of Dadism although many times it is not aesthetically pleasing; it is interesting, provoking and enjoyable. I especially enjoy the fact that works of Dadism leave their interpretation open to the viewer due to their abstract composition. Essentially Dadism was a movement that protested contemporary politics and modern art. It was designed to be a social commentary on what Dada artist felt was wrong with the world; it has been described as anti-art because it went against contemporary art movements of the time period, it was a satire through art. Proponents of Dada sought to offend...

Some of the most recognized artists in the Dadism move include Marcel Duchamp, Hans Arp, Francis Picabia, Max Ernst, Hugo Ball, Man Ray, and Marcel Janco. The works differ in the sense that they do not share many aesthetic qualities or themes. Their works are similar due to their abstract nature other than that, they do not have much in common. In its initial exhibits, works of Dada Art were not well received they were scorned and despised. The art community felt uncomfortable and insulted with the presences of these works because they did not understand them. This is exactly what the artists of Dadism intended through the presentation of their works; they wanted to make a statement against the contemporary art community and its values. The legacy of this movement during the 21st has now transcended into a more favorable light, critics now appreciate this movement and what it stood for, some of the works from this movement like Duchamp's Fountain, have been recognized by the art world as some of the most important pieces of the 21st century and of modern art. The concept of art is very difficult to define, I do not believe that you can take any object and call it art and therefore be an artist. Artwork was to have some kind of meaning or aesthetic quality one or the other, it must have some sort of associations or connotations that can be derived from the appreciation and study of the work.

Modern Art A primary concern of fauvism is the presence of strong colors. Fauvist works have relatively wild brushstrokes. The subject matter of fauvist painters is simple and often abstract. Fauvism is heavily influence by postimpressionism and pointillism. In "Woman with a Green Stripe," the viewer can distinguish between each color because of the brushstrokes. The portrait is simply of a woman, making a neutral face. The colors are stark and

(Rathus) (Day) ("Susan Elliot") Conclusion Clearly, the five different works are illustrating how the art of the 21st century is taking the techniques of the past and they are incorporating them with contemporary beliefs. The way that this is occurring is through using classical themes and approaches to set the mood of each piece of art. Then, it is building upon them by taking modern day issues and highlighting the importance

Rather than seeking to emulate an ideal, they sought instead to cobble together influences, styles, and techniques from a range of different traditions. Relying on what others have created without actually valuing those creations on their own merits is not respectful of either tradition or innovation. The result was a hodge-podge of aesthetics that is not without merit, but that is criticized now (and for quite a time) for not

Art In "Burial at Ornans," the brightest and most colorful figures are various figures in the church. An altar boy, a priest, a man carrying a staff of the crucifix, and bishops are in the forefront. They direct our eyes to the left of the painting and create a movement towards the right where the majority of the figures are in the painting. Our eyes gravitate to their area first

MOMA A Comparative Discussion of Modern Art Museums The Modern Museum of Art (MoMA) in New York City and Tate Modern in London have a number of major features in common that help to define the visitor's experience. Perhaps most importantly, both are considered among the most important collections in the world and both institutions are highly regarded not just for their conservation of art but for the usability of their facilities

They created art that was unusual and unique, but they also created art that made statements about who they were and what they believed. Again, this has continued throughout the 20th century. Many critics and experts feel that other more modern examples of avant-garde work include the music and art of John and Yoko Ono, and the arrival of digital media in the art world. Each of the avant-garde artists
