The research study was a qualitative study because the researcher used interviews and observations to collect data (Smith, 2014). The study has managed to focus on its initial intention of determining how social workers use their knowledge in making practice decisions. The author has managed to convey the phenomenon in a proper and descriptive manner making it easy for one to understand what is being studied. The statement clearly indicates what will be studied and the location of the study. The study participants have also been a mentioned in the study, which allows one to relate well with the study. The purpose statement has been well presented, and it does align with the identified problem.

The theory of the article is inductive theory, and it has mainly focused on what other researchers have done in regards to the phenomenon under study. This has made it easy for one to relate to the article and have a sound basis of what is being studied. The research problem is linked to the theory, and the author has managed to present the reasoning for picking the said research problem. The purpose statement clearly points out what is being researched, how it links to current studies, and why there has been a gap in the area.

Research allows us to determine if the current initiatives have a positive or negative social change. Without research, it would not be easy to establish the effects of a particular initiative or strategy (Babbie, 2017). Therefore, research and social change are tied to each other in that one allows for the determination of the effects of the other. Research is carried out with the aim of analyzing and determining the impact that a social change phenomenon would have. The results of the study would establish how effective the social change has been.
