Divergent Learning Style

Summary of learning style (divergent learning style).

Divergent learners tend to be more of the arts and humanities kinds and will characteristically depend on theoretical conceptualization and thoughtful surveillance in order to process information. One can easily recognize them by watching their pleasure in small group deliberations or brain storming meetings. If one has a divergent learning style they are likely to collect information and may have a wide range of interests. Dissimilar from a convergent learner, divergent students are better capable to identify with the feelings of others, but they do not have the capability to draw conclusions from technical or quantities features of situations. Divergent learners tend to be very imaginative and open minded but they may have to press them to make definitive decisions. One should also support them to try and set more long-term goals and take a few risks. Divergent and convergent learners are very dissimilar in their learning styles but they can both benefit greatly from working with one another (Savoie, 2011).

2. Discuss how educational program development is influenced by learning styles.

Classrooms today are turning out to be more academically varied in most areas of the United States. Several, if not the majority of classrooms include kids representing both genders and multiple cultures, regularly comprise children who do not speak English, and normally include kids with a variety of exceptionalities and noticeably dissimilar practical backgrounds. Psychologists say that a child learns only when what they are doing is a little too difficult for that person. When a child can do work with little effort, and almost entirely by themselves, that child is not learning, but rather practicing what they already know. When a student finds a task beyond their reach, aggravation, not learning, is the consequence. Only when a task is an only slightly outside of their comfort zone, and the child finds a support arrangement to bridge the gap, does learning take place. This best degree of complexity for learning is referred to as a student's area of proximal development. Bearing in mind today's varied classrooms; it is improbable that a teacher will be constantly able to expand a universal learning experience that is in the regions of proximal development of all students in a class (Differentiated Instruction, n.d.).

It is possible that male and female learning guides and partialities differ. The discrepancy almost certainly has biological, cultural, and environmental origins. There is in addition of course, great diversity among both male and female populations in regard to learning. Nevertheless, it is probably counterproductive to take for granted that gender is an immaterial issue in what people learn and how they learn. Culture has a significant manner on how people learn. While it is obviously not the case that all people of a given society learn in comparable manners, it is the instance that learning environments and measures that are at ease for several people of one cultural group may not be so to a lot of people of other cultural groups. Children in classrooms that are cultural oddities frequently do badly in school. In classrooms where diverse cultural groups are characterized, a single advance to teaching and learning is improbable to serve all children well (Differentiated Instruction, n.d.).
