Bullying and incivility in the workplace can create a hostile and unproductive environment, leading to decreased morale, increased turnover, and decreased productivity. Bullying is defined as the repeated, intentional aggression or intimidation, while incivility is defined as disrespectful behavior or language that does not rise to the level of aggression (Bambi et al., 2018). Management can take several steps to reduce and/or eliminate bullying and incivility in the workplace, such as: 1) Establishing a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and incivility. 2) Creating an open and respectful environment by setting expectations for appropriate behavior and addressing any issues promptly. 3) Educating and training employees on the consequences of bullying and incivility, as well as providing resources for help. 4) Encouraging feedback and providing support for employees who experience bullying or incivility. 5) Implementing systems and processes to monitor and address bullying and incivility (Gosselin & Ireland, 2020).

The applicable DNP essentials explored in this week’s discussion include the essentials of inter-professional collaboration, organizational and systems leadership, and evidence-based practice. Inter-professional collaboration is essential in addressing workplace bullying and incivility (Green, 2021). Organizational and systems leadership is essential in creating a zero-tolerance policy, setting expectations for appropriate behavior, and providing resources for help. Evidence-based practice is essential in using evidence-based interventions and strategies to address workplace bullying and incivility.
