Letter of Recommendation: Name of Student
To Whom It May Concern:
I have had the honor of having CANIDATE A shadow at my dental office for the last year, as she awaits imminent acceptance to one of the many dental schools that received her application. She has brought numerous strengths to my practice in the year that I have had the honor of having her shadow me. I know she will be of much value and fortitude to the dental industry.
CANDIDATE A is always punctual—without fail. She strategically ensures she always arrives at the office at least ten minutes early in order to get a head start on the day and help any coworkers who might need her assistance. CANDIDATE A is a very thoughtful and a strong communicator; she is able to make sure that all co-workers in the office know that she is ready to help any of them at any moment, should need her. Even though CANDIDATE A is technically an intern, she still makes it her priority to do everything in her power to maintain a positive countenance and to inject the entire office with optimism. This is a priceless quality, particularly when we have a busy day, or a difficult client; she is able to keep everyone smiling.
CANDIDATE A’s work ethic sets an example for literally every member of staff I employ. She is the first one to arrive, the last one to leave, and always eats lunch in under ten minutes (as much as I urge her to take a proper lunch hour). She has boundless amounts of energy and focus. She never spends a fraction of her downtime idly, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her even look at her smart phone. CANDIDATE A is not just dependable and completes all work on time, or early and with complete thoroughness, she is flexible when needed. CANDIDATE A is always willing to adjust her workflow or methods in order to ensure that needs of the office are met more comprehensively.
I can say without a doubt, that CANDIDATE A is easily one of the most self-motivated people I have ever met. It is obvious that she is grateful for the many opportunities she has been afforded and she endeavors each day to learn as much as humanly possible, holding herself to the highest standard. CANDIDATE A is a luminous communicator, and always able to express herself in the smoothest, most professional manner at all times, no matter how tense or high-stress the situation.
While CANDIDATE A does have a lack of experience, that is a weakness that is markedly temporary. Every expert was a beginner once. I have no doubt, that CANDIDATE A will soon boast a wealth of dental skills and expertise, given her high level of self-motivation and strong work ethic. While she doesn’t understand every single topic discussed in the workplace, she asks some of the more nuanced, intelligent questions and is able to fill in any gaps in her understanding, on her own.
CANDIDATE A is sometimes sensitive to harsh criticism delivered by other co-workers, though this is not a flaw that concerns me much. Over time, she will build thicker skin and I am sure she will develop greater understanding that constructive criticism is the most potent feedback that can help a person grow into a more capable professional. Finally, CANDIDATE A has a tendency to be introverted or shy, sometimes being on the quiet side with a client or more reticent when it comes to making small talk. CANDIDATE A has taken it upon herself to rectify this small flaw by sitting at the front desk and greeting and engaging with patients in order to shrug off her shyness.
