Spirituality is a common theme in Black music, and it can be observed in John Coltrane\\\\\\\'s \\\\\\\"Alabama,\\\\\\\" the Miles Davis Quintet\\\\\\\'s work in 1964, and James Cleveland\\\\\\\'s \\\\\\\"Where is Your Faith in God.\\\\\\\" John Coltrane\\\\\\\'s \\\\\\\"Alabama\\\\\\\" is a tribute to the four young Black girls who were killed in the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1963. The song\\\\\\\'s slow tempo, mournful melody, and melancholic harmonies convey a sense of mourning and sadness.
