Terrorism

Terror is a state of intense fear according to Merriam Webster. Terrorism, Webster says, is the systematic use of terror (intense fear) especially as a means of coercion. This is probably the most objective, least biased definition we will find. "Ideology" means the theories and aims (of an organization) that constitute a sociopolitical program.
We must consider the fact that we do not know, and have no way of ever knowing, whether the Iranian elections were fair or corrupt. We cannot assume, when assigning blame for the government's response, that we know the truth and are making our judgment based on fact, even though we are aware that the Iranian government does support terrorism -- in Iraq for example. But, whether or not the elections were fair, is the Iranian government response a fair one?
Though part of the Islam ideology is to live in peace, Dr. Samuel Schlorff, an expert on Islam with Arab World Ministries, says, "The truth is that there is another side to Islam, a side that embraces violence 'in the way of Allah.'...and the "peace" they speak of, when translated correctly, means 'submission' or 'surrender.'" Thus, all nations must "surrender" to Islam.
Given their socio-political agenda and state-sponsored stand on terrorism, it would be difficult to believe that the government response was fair or reasonable in any way. That said, I would have difficulty defining it as terrorism in this particular case. However, ideological violence might fit the bill, given Dr. Schlorff's explanation of the true meaning of "peace" to the militaristic side of Islam. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says 'the enemies of the nation' are fomenting post-election riots across the country." He is blaming the United States for causing the riots -- a country that, in the Islam mind, has not submitted to Allah and must therefore be forced to do so. Thus, the rioters, an extension of the U.S., must surrender to Allah.
Terrorism How does terrorism affect children? Children are often the victims of terrorism, and sometimes die in terrorist attacks (Dyson, 2001). When children witness or survive a terrorist attack, psychological ramifications like post-traumatic stress disorder may result (Hall, 2003). In some cases, children lose their loved ones and their lives may be turned upside down by terrorist attacks as all that is familiar to them -- schools, family, homes, community -- are
Non-Conventional Terrorism The proliferation of non-conventional weapons has contributed to the increase of the threat of non-conventional terror in the recent past. This has come at a time when there are various efforts towards the war on terrorism, which is a major security threat across the globe. Terrorists have now turned to non-conventional options because of the increased access to materials that enable them to develop chemical, biological or nuclear devices.
" Prohibiting "a bill of attainder" means that the U.S. Congress cannot pass a law that considers individual or aggregation blameworthy and later discipline them. Disallowing an ex post facto law implies that the U.S. Congress cannot make any given act a crime after the time the act had been committed. It is doubtful that this applies to a few sections of the Patriot Act. Individuals who monitor the Supreme
Abdal-Hakim Murad, in his "Bin Laden's Violence is a Heresy Against Islam," generally makes the point that violence against civilians and innocents is not in accordance with Islamic scholarship or tradition. According to Murad, it was a 19th century Iranian reformer called "the Bab" who "ignored the accumulated discussion of the centuries and wrote a Koranic commentary based on his own direct understanding of scripture." (Murad) Over time, Murad
Liberty in Times of War Civil liberties are curtailed during wars. In the recent past during the 9/11 attack American and non-American citizens' civil liberties were infringed. Civil liberties are eroded whenever emergency power is exercised. During war government authorities tend to withhold information. Documents are over-classified and information withheld from the Congress and the general public (Fisher, 2003). After the 9/11 attack President Bush released a memo that limit the
