School districts should fund and organize orientation sessions for substitutes before a strike begins, allowing them to familiarize themselves with current lesson plans and the educational goals already in progress for each class. Additionally, substitute teachers should be rigorously evaluated during a strike, and those who are underperforming should be replaced. This evaluation measure would not necessarily require additional funding and would serve as a safeguard to help ensure that students continue to receive the quality of education they deserve even in the midst of a school strike.
