Key academic technique demonstrated

The paper effectively uses a standard marketing framework — product positioning theory drawn from Lamb et al. (2012) and Kotler et al. (2009) — to anchor its analysis in established marketing literature, giving the practical business assessment academic credibility.

Introduction and Mission

The mission of KnuEdge is to lead vital and necessary changes and deliver next-generation technologies that will transform the manner in which humans interact with machines — ranging from advanced voice recognition and authentication to machine learning (KnuEdge Website, 2016).

Product and Service Offerings

KnuEdge has created a range of cutting-edge businesses designed to bring neural technologies to enterprise and consumer markets. One of these businesses is Knuverse. In particular, Knuverse has resolved two significant issues that have persisted in voice-interface technologies: noise and security. Addressing these issues will transform the interaction between technology and humans. As a result, industries such as technology, banking, hospitality, and entertainment have the capacity to innovate new products and services at an extraordinary rate (KnuEdge, 2016).

The product and service offerings of Knuverse include Background, DNA, Active, and Audiopin. Background is designed to operate in the background to continuously authenticate a person within the flow of casual speech. DNA alerts users if a specific speaker is detected while passively operating in the background, continuously monitoring for recognized threats. Active is a flexible speaker authentication solution that permits customization to the requirements of a particular product or policy. Audiopin is an authentication product that accounts for multiple factors to provide secure access to websites, Windows settings, or mobile applications (Knuverse, 2016).

Market Positioning

Product positioning is the process used to determine the best way to communicate the features and characteristics of products to targeted consumers based on their needs, competitive pressure, and available channels of communication (Lamb et al., 2012). The main competitive advantage that Knuverse holds over its rivals is the distinctiveness of its product offerings (Kotler et al., 2009). The company's products are designed to fit a wide variety of settings and to perform at scale and speed. Accordingly, the products will be positioned in the market as a unique option compared to competing solutions (Kotler et al., 2009).

SWOT Analysis

Accuracy and Flexibility: The products offered by Knuverse are designed to fit and operate across a wide range of business environments, functioning at scale and speed.

Integration: Knuverse products, including its speech processing platform, can be incorporated into any application.

Comprehensiveness: The company's products and services encompass data security for both individual consumers and businesses (Knuverse, 2016).

Lack of Brand Recognition: Most commercial markets have yet to recognize the company and its products, largely because Knuverse's operations were originally established within the military sector.

Expanding Into New Markets: Knuverse has historically created products for the military market. However, with advancing technology and increasing demand for security and consumer services in other industries, the company has a significant opportunity to leverage its expertise in broader commercial contexts (Knuverse, 2016).

Fast-Paced Technological Change: The primary threat the company faces is the rapid pace of technological advancement. An increasing number of companies are developing cutting-edge technologies, which raises the risk of Knuverse's products becoming obsolete. A notable example is BioID, which offers multimodal biometric authentication for both face and voice recognition (BioID Website, 2016).
