Effects of Teacher Diversity on Student Outcomes
I value the importance of using scholarly resources over popular sources for many reasons but mainly because scholarly resources undergo a rigorous process of peer review before they are published (Ali & Watson, 2016). This means that other experts in the field scrutinize and validate the contents of the articles, ensuring that the research is reliable, accurate, and contributes to existing knowledge in the field. On the other hand, popular sources, while often accessible and engaging, do not typically go through this rigorous vetting process, which can lead to issues with reliability and accuracy.
My chosen educational topic is the effects of teacher diversity on student outcomes. This is a significant and relevant issue in education today, as we strive to create inclusive and equitable learning environments that reflect the diversity of our students (Gretter et al., 2019). I am particularly interested in understanding how having a diverse teaching staff can influence students' academic performance, For scholarly resources, I will search academic databases like JSTOR, ERIC, and...…professional practice, I plan to use both types of resources, each for its unique strengths. The scholarly resources will provide me with a solid theoretical and empirical foundation on the topic. The popular resources will help me stay connected with real-world applications and discussions around the topic, i.e., they will help me keep my finger on the pulse of the popular imagination.
