Personal Statement in Pharmaceutical Sciences

My Interest in College of Arts and Sciences

I wish to pursue Pharmaceutical Sciences at Howard University. However, I have realized that I have an interest in Arts and Sciences and I will have to take some courses in this area. By pursuing the humanities discipline, I will be developing myself as a better citizen because I will learn various aspects and values treasured by the people I will be serving as a pharmacist. In the humanities division, I will be introduced to different things such as literature that touches on both ancient and modern languages, philosophy, cultural studies, performing arts, linguistics, and history. The mention of performing arts takes me back to my early childhood stages where my parents used to take us out where we would enjoy different performances. With such cultural interactions, I have appreciated the need for taking some art courses while studying may major in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

With the dynamic quality of life, arts and sciences are known to take students into an imagined world that invokes creativity among students. This will enable me to understand how other people in society live. With my focus on Pharmaceutical Sciences, humor will come a long way in helping me go through the strenuous activities in this file. Moreover, the performances that we hear and see become part of our memories, which makes it part of the culture that we inherit or encounter. Therefore, the cultural performances are useful because they widen an individual’s horizon concerning people’s behavior and the cultural and historical forces shaping their actions.

I am also interested in Art and Sciences because it also engages students in creating a balance of utility with the more idealistic quality of issues affecting our lives. Idealism arises from the fact that students become critical thinkers and are empowered to become independent and resolute in the decisions they make. Furthermore, arts help students to read powerfully and perceptively and speak articulately. This is important in my pharmaceutical career considering that I will be dealing with different people. Moreover, arts will give me the power to write lucidly and precisely which is very necessary for the Sciences field.

Lastly, studying arts and science is essential and exciting because it broadens one’s context and view of life. Therefore, this will help me when facing real-life issues and problems in a complex society. The idea of thinking about experience in the humanities discipline is all about promoting cohesion in the community. With such skills, I will be able to tackle problems of every nature intellectually. Furthermore, the subject will help me to confront and understand the present personal and even historical issues, especially with my clients. This will also help me to appreciate what our forefathers did to make us reach where we are today.

By studying at Howard University, I will be able to achieve my overall goals because the institution will give me an opportunity to surround myself with greatness because the students come from all parts of the world. Many people have asserted that Howard University is not diverse, but a plethora of social science courses come in handy to help students in understanding different cultures and promoting cross-cultural interaction. Complexities are bound to occur when dealing with people from different backgrounds while enhancing social experiences among the students. Howard University is committed to its legacy of having a great mind that brings change to future generations. It is the best option for me in attaining my overall goal. I believe that Howard University is the right place for me in advancing my career goals as a pharmacist and undertaking some arts and science courses to smoothen my future interactions.
