A good teacher is one who possesses the following characteristics: "1. Makes an effort to make class interesting; teaches in a special way.

2. Talks to me, pays attention, asks questions, and listens.

3. is honest and fair, keeps promises, trust me, tells the truth.

4. Asks what's wrong, talks to me about my problems, acts as a friend, asks when I need help, takes time to make sure I understand, calls on me." (Santrock, p 471)

While it is very encouraging to see a student prosper and flourish under a teacher's guidance and care, it is not uncommon for educators to face problems with students in variety of scenarios. In some cases, students seem difficult to get through. They appear obstinate, refuse to cooperate with teachers and the entire class, or are generally slow learners. Educators may not have issues dealing with slow learners because they are trained to handle such students but they can face problems with students are deliberately disruptive. These students can react negatively to change or may have a need to express their individuality more than other students. It is therefore important to be prepared for these challenges and know in advance how best to deal with these students:

Evaluate the physical context of the classroom, such as where the difficult child sits, who he sits near him or her, and so on for clues about reducing disruptive behavior.
3. Minimize delay times between activities and standing in line, which gives a difficult child less time to be disruptive. (Santrock, J., p137)

In short I believe only someone who has a constant urge to learn and grow as a person should think of having a career in education. This is because it is very evolving and dynamic field where students will constantly challenge teachers and push them to develop greater understanding and expand their knowledge.
