The work environment has a quantifiable impact on employee job satisfaction, team morale, and motivation. Employees would get more enthusiastic to report to work daily whenever favorable work environment. The work environment includes the company's growth opportunities, culture, location, facilities, and interaction between employees and employers. In many instances, employers are prompt to ask employees about their preferred work environment to ascertain their suitability during the recruitment processes (Van Horn and W. Stinnett, 42). For instance, if the company is a fast-paced, target-driven sales environment, a candidate who cannot manage pressure may not fit the job.

Additionally, employees' satisfaction, performance levels, and motivation will gradually drop whenever they are uncomfortable with their working environment. Unhappy employees are prone to accepting alternative job offers and propagating hate and negativity amongst their workmates. For instance, in Norwich, UK, the majority of the employees in the city have reported being happy working in the city. People say they love their jobs. According to Lauren Razavi, a local journalist, Norwich is one of the few cities that retains a solid identity and a sense of community; for instance, people still say hello to one another along the streets (Uglis et al. 37). Therefore, below are the features of an ideal work environment.

An ideal work environment is where leaders communicate their objectives, culture, strategies, and goals and abide by them. Also, there ought to be a transparent and open channel of communication between the employees and their managers and supervisors. The company's leadership has to listen to concerns and issues raised by or of concern to the employees to establish a trustworthy and good relationship (Motley et al. 234). Furthermore, the employers have to avail themselves a platform for the workers to express their feelings and opinions. Additionally, employers must act on them whenever the employees raise issues and suggestions (Van Horn and W. Stinnett, 44). Otherwise, workers may become hesitant to participate in the company's deliberation if their contributions and opinions are not valued.

b. Development and Training programs.

One of the best working environments promotes training and development for the workers. A company that is ready and willing to invest money and time in training their staff gets appreciated and rewarded. Such pieces of training enhance the employees' performance and motivation by applying such knowledge and skills gained during training programs. An ideal company should be able to take the responsibility of preparing the staff changes within the industry. For example, technology keeps advancing; therefore, it is critical to train the staff to utilize the latest technology. Training should also include skills that can enhance relationships and interactions (Kossek et al. 126). For example, training the workers on team building, effective communication, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution will promote their interaction, hence, job satisfaction.

In several instances, employees sacrifice their personal needs, interests, and goals to grow their careers. An ideal work environment should motivate and train the employees to live a balanced life. For example, some employees may decide to work extra hours daily to earn salary increments or promotions; however, good managers should understand the importance of work-life balance. Assisting the staff to realize work-life balance enhances their job satisfaction (Kivindu et al. 109). For instance, employees with a balanced work-life will have time to attend to other critical aspects of their lives, like spiritual pursuits, hobbies, and family.

Sometimes employees can work for extra hours without pay to achieve their goals within the timelines. Rewarding such tremendous efforts encourage employees to put more effort into the future. Furthermore, they feel appreciated and recognized. For instance, just a verbal recognition from the supervisor is good enough in some cases to make the employees feel happy and appreciated. Therefore, managers have to learn to appreciate both individual and team performance (Van Horn and W. Stinnett, 45). Creating a positive work environment will help reduce employee turnover rates. A positive work environment results in motivation and job satisfaction, thus, improving employee performance.
