¶ … Teen Pregnancy There are a couple of different ways that I would deal with my chosen Lot in Life, in which my 17-year-old announces that she is about to become a parent. However, it is worth noting that all of these methods stem from the relationship that I have with my child. To that end, the first thing I would do is emphasize to her that my relationship with her is my primary concern. I would want my daughter to realize that whatever happens in her future, that I will be there to support and care for her. I would make it clear that initially, her immediate future will not disadvantageously affect our relationship which is based primarily on us two. Additionally, once I had conveyed the fact that she had my love and support, I would make it clear to her that she actually has a clear choice in this manner. She could either choose to keep her baby or not. I would stress that if she chose the former option, she could utilize myself and my resources to make her child a welcome addition to our family which would expand to include it. However, if she opted to choose the latter, I would explain that there are a variety of ways in which she could achieve that objective, and detail them until she found one that she thought was best suited for her individual needs.

On a more pragmatic note, I would let her know that I had a plan for helping her to successfully become a mother as well as an adult in her own life. I would tell her that she was not alone, and that I and the rest of the family are not the only forms of support she has available. Specifically, I would let her know that there are a pair of pregnancy community centers, Birthline, Inc. and Pregnancy Support Center, that she could also utilize to draw the strength and guidance to get through what otherwise might be a difficult time without us.
I would then provide details about Pregnancy Support Center. I would recommend that she contact this entity as soon as possible via its support and information hotline at (208) *** (Pregnancy, 2016). The chief advantage of dialing this hotline is that it provides a service in which pregnant women and girls can talk to others about questions and concerns they have regarding their pregnancies and motherhood that they do not necessarily want to discuss with others.
