This paper presents a personal professional growth plan for entering the field of education with a focus on technology integration. The author outlines short- and long-term goals centered on developing leadership skills, conducting needs assessments for school technology infrastructure, and defining key concepts for curriculum and instruction. The paper also explores how an online educational program—emphasizing database management, human-computer interaction, and networking—can support these goals, ultimately preparing the author to design and implement technology-rich learning environments in schools.
Over the next few years, I would like to work on my personal and professional goals in order to prepare myself for a career in education. It is important for anyone entering the educational field to fully understand the values and principles involved in teaching others or creating educational programs for others.
My overall professional growth plan centers on developing the knowledge and values needed to provide others with limitless academic and physical opportunities. I plan to study and assess these values and principles in preparation for my career.
Whether I enter the educational industry as a teacher, curriculum planner, or in one of many other positions in the field, it is important to me that my career focuses on technology, as it is one of my greatest strengths and areas of interest. Over the next year, I plan to concentrate on increasing my technical skills in preparation for my career.
First, I will concentrate on defining the role of leadership when integrating technology into a school. In order to make technology — such as computers and Internet access in classrooms — a part of everyday curricula, I will need to become an expert in the field. Educational technology encompasses a wide range of tools and strategies that, when implemented effectively, can transform the learning experience for students at every level.
Next, I will develop a needs assessment for identifying the technological needs of a school setting, including hardware, software, and professional development. With this plan, it will be easier to design and implement technology into educational environments as needed. A thorough needs assessment ensures that resources are allocated appropriately and that both educators and students receive adequate support during the transition to technology-rich learning environments.

"How online programs support professional growth goals"
With my technical background and skills, I believe that an online program will give me an advantage, as I will be adding to my existing skills and technical base. As I progress in the program, the goals of my professional plan can be realized. The ultimate realization of my professional growth plan will occur when I have fully completed my education and am ready to begin implementing technical programs in schools — and possibly even teaching technology to others.
