130). Interestingly, the research suggests that there is no specific early childhood pedagogy that is inherently superior rather what is important is that children receive exposure to learning as soon as possible. "While no single curriculum or pedagogical approach can be identified as best, children who attend well-planned, high- quality early childhood programs in which curriculum aims are specified and integrated across domains tend to learn more and are better prepared to master the complex demands of formal schooling" ("Eager to Learn: Educating Our Preschoolers," 2000, Commission on Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education, p.307). One of the problems in demonstrating the efficacy of early childhood education programs such as Head Start, is that they are almost by definition measured for their ultimate efficacy in a long-term fashion. Experimental studies are less valuable than correlational studies because of their short duration, but studies in the field can be affected by many other factors that influence the outcome of the study, given the complex interactions that come into play over the course of a child's education ("Eager to Learn: Educating Our Preschoolers," 2000, Commission on Behavioral and Social Sciences and...

However, while no perfect study may exist demonstrating the uniform, ideal approach for preschool education -- if such an ideal approach exists at all, given programs may work best if they are tailored to the needs of the child, the socioeconomic status of the community, and funding available -- the fact that they do help prepare a child for school and facilitate the stages of the developmental process should be evidence enough of the increased need for funding for such programs in the future, to help tomorrow's leaders come to terms as soon as possible with today's complex world.

Explain what the research suggests about childhood development that supports the need for early childhood development programs.

Analyze to what extent and in what manner early childhood development programs are made available throughout the U.S.

Determine, based on current trends and empirical research (above), if this current status is sufficient. Explain.

Fairness When data collection is reliant on teacher reporting and therefore the "...perception and rating of the Kindergarten teacher" (Guhn, Guderman, & Zumbo, 2007, p. 456), how would you suggest best controlling for or adjusting for perception bias? Teacher reporting is understandably used in studies like that of Guhn, Guderman & Zumbo (2007). In the Guhn, Gederman & Zumbo (2007) study, the Kindergarten teachers rated their own students on the EDI. It

Rising Poverty in the Nation's Young Families My goal is to make a positive change in the lives of young children, families, and the early childhood field by targeting childhood poverty. Concepts Poverty is increasing most rapidly in families with young children. While poverty only rose by 1.3% in the childless 30-64 age bracket, it rose by nearly 8% in families with a head under 30 years old with one or more children

CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE ON WOMEN INVOLVED IN PROSTITUTION Conceptual Paper Millions of children around the globe are sexually abused or exploited. This paper includes several descriptions of studies that relate sexual abuse during childhood to delinquency later in life. There are several difficulties with methodology and definitions that are inherent in the mentioned studies. These challenges make it somewhat difficult to compare and interpret the findings of the study. A framework

(Obesity in Young Children: Impact and Intervention. NICHM Research Brief. 2004). The report echoes the views of many other critics that there is a decided need for further research to understand how overweight status can impact on children's mental health. This has led to calls for many professionals to deal with the problem at a school level -- and particularly with regard to the formalization of physical exercise for children.

This study determined that the amount of time spent in full-time daycare was positively correlated with the number of friends children had as well as their participation in extracurricular activities. Also, more time spent in daycare was positively correlated to parents' ratings of popularity, leadership, the children's emotional well-being, and assertiveness, and was negatively correlated to ratings of aggressiveness. Based on these findings, it could be concluded that participation

Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic theory suggest that early stages of human development have a significant impact on our relationships and our ego throughout the life span. According to Freudian theories, manifested behavior is based on latent problems of the past. The therapeutic process of psychoanalysis is designed to help the client become aware of past problems or latent desires that have been suppressed during the process of psychological development.
