Personal Statement - Biology Program I first experienced working in healthcare at the XYZ Home, a nursing community in my hometown of XYZ City, XYZ State. From 19##-19##, while still in high school, I worked as a volunteer with elderly residents. During those two years, I helped organize social activities for the seniors. I assisted with feeding duties and helped the residents get involved in physical activities, such as stretching limbs or a simple walk around the garden.

The best part of the job, however, was being a valued part of lives. In addition to the official duties, I often read to some of the older. A tall, proud, World War II veteran regaled me with tales of fighting in Normandy. Elizabeth, a sweet, frail-looking grandmother even tried to teach me how to crochet. I have always found great fulfillment in healthcare and in being part of people's recoveries. For this reason, I have now decided to apply to the Biology Program at XYZ School.

My long-term goal is to pursue graduate studies in Physical Therapy, concentrating on helping elderly patients like Elizabeth recover from injuries. I have taken a longer road towards this goal, since graduating from high school ## years ago. This is partly due to finances, as I had to take some time off and work to support myself. Because of these constraints, I attended the Median School instead. Instead of pursuing studies in Biology, I opted to go into a related field - veterinary studies.

I graduated in less than a year, earning a certificate as a licensed veterinary technician. After graduating, I worked with the Northview Animal Hospital in XYZ City, another experience that gave me great personal satisfaction. There is no greater joy than helping another creature towards recovery. Working as a veterinary technician - ministering to dogs, cats, hamsters and bunnies -- only served to fuel my interest in Biology. Two years ago, I was finally able to take the first step and go back to school.

I have been attending the Community College of Allegheny County, and will be graduating in May with my Associate Degree in General Studies. I believe that my academic background has prepared me well for the Biology program at XYZ School. My work both at Northview Animal Hospital and at XYZ Home have taught me good time management and study skills. As a result, I have consistently been on the Dean's List for the past three semesters and have been inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society.

I intend to apply these same discipline and study skills, if I am accepted into your school's Biology program. I believe that the XYZ School Biology Program offers the best preparation towards a career in Physical Therapy. First of all, XYZ School.
