Liberals & Conservatives The rather divergent swath of political ideology that pervades the United States political scene is hard to miss. Indeed, the obvious and apparent idea differences that exist between the right and left wings is impossible to miss. Also hard to miss are the pejoratives and demagoguery that happen all of the time. Even with all of that, there are many people that openly monitor and assess this political dichotomy.
There are even some such as assert that such a "yin" and "yang" is necessary as the two groups of thought "need" each other to contribute to a health political system. While the idea that political strife that leads to such nasty insults being normal and the natural order of things might be foreign or even insulting to some, this brief report shall explore the idea in earnest.
Analysis Even with the political bomb-throwing and jockeying that is fairly unique to the modern day, the practice of liberals and conservatives acting as they are now in the public and political spheres is nothing new. What is frustrating to many, however, is the fact that there seems to be an unnecessary amount of gridlock and spinning wheels in Washington DC.
There is also some obvious and apparent hypocrisy as there are some people that seem to support or not support things based on who is saying things and who would get the credit. Regardless, political motive asymmetry is a very real thing and there are many people that suggest that such divergence of ideas is a normal and necessary dynamic that could and should exist when it comes to modern politics.
One required and requested source that was consulted when it comes to this subject is the class text written by Van Belle. Specifically, the author of this brief report reviewed the first four chapters. Indeed, Van Belle talks about how the basic group dynamics that exist within the political sphere and the fact that the government has an unmovable place in society when it comes to the regulation and influence on the economy.
Also mentioned in those early chapters is the "ideal versus the real." To be sure, there are a lot of ideas and concepts tossed around that seem to be at odds with reality. Throw in the fact that there are entirely different solutions offered for the same issues and many of the solutions offered seem to be more about settling scores than efficacy and evidence-based practice, the waters get even more muddy and more opaque (Van Belle, 2015).
According to the work of Poloni-Straudinger and Wolf (2015), another variable that is commonly in the fray, for better or for worse, is the idea of American exceptionalism and whether the American system could or should be perceived as being superior to what is going in within other countries and their respective political systems.
Whether or not the American system is supposedly any better is obviously something on the radar of a lot of people, also something to note is that the back and forth between the politically asymmetrical movements in the world are easy to notice and observe. Ideology, no matter how irrational, is on full display and so is the fact that the right and left wings both have their strident and prominent opinions irrespective of who is in power at any given time.
Beyond that, there is a proverbial tug of war that exists whereby the different political systems go back in forth in terms of who the people trust and who is in power (Poloni-Straudinger & Wolf, 2015). Even with the rancor, there are some people that have admitted to this asymmetry existing but yet have pleaded for people to work together even if this being the case (Brooks, 2016).
Conclusion No matter how much people focus on their own interests, their freedom to do what they wish regardless of what the government might have to say about it and beyond, it is beyond debate that the political back and forth that exists directly or indirectly influences what people can do,.
