Sports Risk Assessment The author of this report has been charged with the task of looking at the sports facilities and amenities of a local sports facility and assessing the risks and hazards that exist when it comes to the same. With that in mind, there has been checklists created and used, identification of the setting that will be looked at, the conducting of an assessment at that facility and a narrative of the findings discovered. The facility that was selected was the basketball arena for the local Acme University program. Overall, the arena is in great shape and is rather low-risk in terms of its structure and so forth. Even with most of the facility being top-notch, there was most certainly some weaknesses and those will be addressed one by one within this report.

Analysis

Areas of Compliance

• The outside of the facility has great walkways and there are plenty of publicly usable doors that allow for going in to and out of the facility.

• For nighttime games and other usages of the facility, lighting of said walkways and doors is very well-done.

• Doorways and walkways are lit every single night without fail. This is true whether there is an vent going on or not • The university has its own police force and they are always present on the university campus (not specific to the arena...but it includes it) and they are usually fairly visible. However, staffing seems to be low at the night time

• Inside is strong as well. Concourses and stairways are wide and it is easy for a large amount of people to flow through without bottlenecks and such

Areas of Non-Compliance

• Many of the non-traveled areas are not lit well, if at all. This is not technically a problem when it comes to traffic in and around the building, but people could be lurking in the shadows.

• Also a...

This could create issues like making graffiti easier to apply without detection (or strong detection) and robberies or other attacks.
• Area around snack bar queue area is a little on the small side. Not usually an issue but absolutely becomes an issue during peak times for people to get their snacks and drinks (halftime, etc.)

• Security cameras are present but not nearly as obvious and numerous as they should be. Probably better to be obvious and ubiquitous about the fact that the area is being watched at all times. Creates a visible deterrent and there is no expectation of privacy in the area as it is public property and not in a private space (e.g. bathroom)

• Bathrooms are community style...meaning more than one in there at a time. Not going to be an issue when there are a lot of people in eyeshot and earshot. However, could create a problem when there are not many people around

• Enforcement of parking restrictions outside is not nearly as strong is it could or should be. Lot of people parking in fire lanes and such and not even ticketing is occurring. People cannot park in areas that obstruct fire trucks or that is otherwise illegal or dangerous.

• Overall amount of parking stalls is a little on the small side....lot of spillover into neighboring areas and lots of illegal (or at least rude) parking going on as a result

Specific Recommendations

• Add to the parking spaces that are present and available for sporting events. Could mean changing permit parking areas to open parking areas (at least during game times). Need to prohibit non-locals from parking in neighborhoods while at the same time giving a viable alternative on the campus itself. The existence of sporting events should not be a burden or a hassle to nearby residents (more so than is necessary...traffic, noise, etc.)

• Increasing lighting in any areas where it is deficient, especially…

Police Officers Crime handling by Police officer In the given case scenario, there are several triggers that would dictate the way the police officer would handle the involved men in the fight. First, if one or both of the men involved would display a continues aggressive behavior even in the presence of the law enforcement officer, this would be a reason for the officer to respond with reasonable force to end the

vision of the police force in aspects of 'modernity' is that it is a replica of the nation-state enforcing a unitary body of law on a specific population; it is an objective institution expressing a universal truth and binding social deviants to follow that truth. Postmodernism, through consumerism, fragmentation of values, globalization, and fracturing of nation-state, is popularly seen as destructive to modernity's grasp on crime control and community

Indeed, even the most outspoken critics of law enforcement will likely be the first to dial "9-1-1" when their homes are being burglarized or members of their families are being attacked, but the fact remains that many police department remain primarily white and male in composition. The impetus for effecting substantive changes in the composition of the nation's police forces will therefore need to be mandated in order for
