¶ … bias, internal validity, external validity, and reliability. There are several important issues with the research conducted by this anonymous female student that impacts the reliability and validity of her findings. Firstly, it appears that the researcher formulated her hypothesis before she had gathered all the facts available regarding the topic which is a major issue. She has an opinion that lower income people vote less than those with higher incomes and seems to have looked for data to support the hypothesis rather than forming a hypothesis which accounts for the data. In addition, in the question regarding this hypothetical research it is stated that she searched the internet and library, but there is no information as to the quality or reliability...

I would also be concerned with the world almanac she is using as the primary data for her research. An almanac of this time is not exactly a peer-reviewed source. To find out the voter turnouts and home ownership within the states, the researcher should look at documents collected by the individual states in question. This would provide more reliable data as to the numbers.
Internal validity is an issue within this research. She uses the average income of families within the state in order to measure the overall economic status of the voters. Once the average has been found she compares this to the ratio of voter turnout to registered voters. However, in averaging the data she would be including both people who do vote and those that do not. Therefore the ratios she is working with are not equal. To…

Reliability of Test Reliability is defined by Joppe (2002,p.1) as the level of consistency of the obtained results over a period of time as well as an accurate representation of the population under study. If the outcome of the study can be reproduced using a similar methodology then the instrument used in the research are said to be reliable. It is worth noticing that there is an element of replicability as well

As shown in Appendix 2 these report gives a complete and detailed picture of candidate's personality type, classifying him to one of five main types: A-director, B - socializer, motivator, people person, C - thinker, analytic, D - supporter, X which means that personality has two types synergized. Interviewing as the most used employee screening skill Another very effective method of prospective employee evaluation is evaluation interview. Evaluation interview was a theme

b) Preexperimental design and quasi-experimental design- a Preexperimental design is a design that acts as a blueprint for the actual research and a quasi-experimental design is a design that resembles a quantitative or qualitative research design but lacks controls. c) history and maturation -- history refers to events that take place outside of the experiment that may affect participants' responses to the experiment and maturation refers to the change that occurs

Presumably, the reliability of the responses between a monitored study and an unmonitored study could be validated by consistent reportage from the peer and the incumbent. This method was also used to control for the study's overall validity: the study would be a more valid measure of counterproductive work actions and their relationship to work stressors if an outside source validated the incumbent's responses. The study's authors still acknowledge a

Research instruments fall into two broad categories: those compiled by the researcher him or herself in the form of recorded observations, logs, and rating scales and those completed by the interview subject him or herself in the form of questionnaires and interviews. Regardless of the instruments used, research studies should be guided by acceptable standards of validity and reliability. "Validity is the extent to which an instrument measures what it
