1# Is there a different perspective on the author’s statement that needs to be offered?

Yes, there is a different perspective that can offering related to the author’s statement. For one organization need to for first reinforce constant innovation. As the continues to matriculate through the digital transformation, employee learning must translate into organizational learning. It is now not enough for employees to learn a skill, as research has shown that employee skill development may not translate into the organizations benefit (Alonazi, 2021). With the digital transformation currently underway, employees will need to acquire skills that enhance organizational development. This includes skills in science, technology, and other STEM related fields. This is particularly true as many nations are now developing their own technologies to rival that of the United States. China for example, has a very strong collectivistic culture that is predicated on the greater good. Those that stand out are often, shun, ostracized or punished. Here, the good of the organization is higher than the good of the prominence of the individual. In American organizations the opposite is true. Here individualism is rewarded and can come at the expense of an organization. CEO greed which caused the financial crisis, individual political ambitions related to masking, and even lobbying groups all emphasize their own benefit to the detriment of society as a whole.

Organizations must therefore look to enhance business processes over time. Efficiencies will lead to higher profitability and more sustainable operations within a much more complex operating environment. Aspects such as artificial intelligence will become more pronounced in the future. The ability to leverage technology as a means of organization development will become a focal point for organizations of the future, particularly as they compete internationally. Finally, the employee base must be skilled enhance to enhance the competitive position of the organization relative to peers within the industry overall.

#2 How can I expand or advance the conversation by new insight or perspective?

As it relates to learning, research has shown the most employees are self-directed learners. This is due that on the job training can only go so far to foster employee growth and development. Often, employees must leverage their own time outside of work to develop their own skills and abilities (Garvin, 2008).

Research has shown that organization that can properly cultivate a learning environment and culture are often the most successful. These organizations foster processes that enhance the learning process and encourage its employees to try new ideas. These ideas, are often cultivated by the creative prowess of the individual. Organizations such as Google, allow employees to have one day per week where they can work on any project they want to. Here employees used their creative energies to provide products, goods, and services the organization has not already thought of. Alibaba, one of the largest internet e-commerce giants has done this themselves through the use of innovation and individual employee learnings. Products such as its logistics business, T-Mall and even its grocery delivery business where created from individual employee ideas.

Organizations, particularly those that want to flourish in the future must adopt processes that allow them to continually redefine themselves. With technology, competitors both large and small can encroach on an organization’s territory, taking market share and talented employees with them. To mitigate these influences these influences, business must create an internal learning environment conducive to learning and development. A committed leadership is required to ensure that policies are established, and resources are allocated to create a learning environment conducive for self-directed learning (Hutasuhut et al., 2021, p. 345). This can be accomplished by guaranteeing adequate time for discovery and learning initiatives, autonomous learning opportunities, and a training department that advocates formal learning programs that combine incidental and intentional learning (Bartell, 2001, pp. 358–360; Hutasuhut et al., 2021, p. 345).
