¶ … education there are a number of different issues that must be grappled with. For those who suffer from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) this can have a major impact upon their lives as well as their education. To fully understand the effects, an article review was undertaken of: Variability in Adaptive Behavior in Autism: Evidence for the Importance of Family History. Where, it talks about the role that social, genetic and psychological factors will play in the disability. This article review will provide a brief summary of the article and an analysis. Together, these two elements will highlight how these factors will have an affect on the disability.
In the study of Autism, very little attention is given to how the development of social, genetic and psychological factors will play in determining adaptive behavior. Where, a sample was taken by surveying 77 males between 18 -- 39 years old. This would help to isolate how these different factors would affect adaptive behavior. The research design that was used was correlation research. This is when the researcher knows what specific areas they want to focus on and are seeking information that will correlate or disprove their ideas. The data collection method was: inferential statistics. This is when you are you sampling a select group of the population, which can be used to infer the overall trends in a specific group. In this particular case, the authors are looking at a number of different age groups and the various factors that could determine the overall effects of adaptive behavior. This is where the overall accuracy of the different conclusions is made. After conducting the study, the authors found that the factors of social, genetic and psychological will all play a major role in determining adaptive behavior. Where, the different factors would affect nearly 87% of respondents. This is significant, because it helps researchers to have another area they could study to determine how and why Autism is occurring. Once you have this answer, there is an excellent possibility that you help those who are suffering from the disease.
Analysis
There are many opportunities for future research, where the different factors at specific ages could be taken into account. This is important because it can help to focus on what stages are the most significant, in the development of adaptive behavior in autistics. The implications of these finding are: that they can help to provide both researchers and educators with knowledge; about how social, genetic and psychological factors will play a role in determining someone's adaptive behavior. With little amounts of research on this aspect of Autism, this could help to provide some kind of insights as to how these different areas play in the development of adaptive behavior.
