¶ … Lesson Observed In all professions there is a need for an evaluation of the outcomes and milestones achieved during a set period of time and the changes that need to be made to make greater progress. Reflecting on milestones and other outcomes is also a common phenomenon in teaching. Most of the time, teaching success is evaluated using the scores achieved by students in exams and other activities. An alternative way of evaluating teaching success is through looking at classwork and lesson plans. Lesson plans are crucial in teaching and they should be implemented after conducting thorough research. Even some of the most experienced teachers sometimes fail to prepare lesson plans. This paper is a reflection of science and math lessons I taught. By evaluating my lesson plans and what actually took place in class, I will find out what went well and I can keep for the future and what needs improvement.

Reflection of the Science Lesson

My science lesson plan was quite descriptive and elaborative which is good. The main objective of the lesson was well spelt out which is even better. For instance, one of my learning objectives for the lesson which was to helping the students understand science by using basic object they encounter every day. This is quite broad and not specific to the lesson which was on the Solar System. However, my overall assessment of the lesson was that my level of preparation was adequate based on how detailed and well researched the lesson plan was.
I began the lesson by enquiring the student's past knowledge on the solar system and even went further to motivate them on the lesson's objective. The lesson was actually sounded interesting to the students noting that it explored our world and living environments, solar system, and distances. This kept the students eager to learn about this topic and kept them focused considering it was a topic they could relate with. Other major points of the lesson were well displayed including a list of the materials and tools needed for the lesson as well as the vocabulary utilized in the study.

With an adept plan, the students found it easy to sail along. Additionally, the dos and don'ts were well pronounced showing that I was in command of the lesson and that I had good control of what I was doing. This shows that I had confidence and sufficient knowledge of the topic at hand. The Science lesson was quite engaging and workable; it was result-based and could be easily followed. Considering that the lesson was offering independent learning for every student and later dividing them into groups and assigning them tasks to work on, they were able to better understand the topic. I learnt the science lesson was successful in using the discussion and sharing, with this approach, the teacher learning to have a character development opportunity among the students and appreciate each other. With it they will learn characters such as appreciating cultural diversification and being accommodative to among each other. The style utilized was inclusive…
