Center for Education Statistics: Adult Education

Participation rates in 2005 of adults 55 and over in a part time degree or diploma program was just under 2% (Adult Learning, 2007). This seems low when taking into account the number of people in this country who are aged 55 and over. In 2004, there were 54.2 million people in the United States that were between the ages of 55 and 79. This made up almost 19% of the total American population. Because this country is quickly getting older, the idea of Post Secondary Education should no longer be aimed strictly at the younger crowd (Framing New Terrain: Older Adults & Higher Education, 2007).

It is thought by the year 2030, 20% of the U.S. population or more than 70 million people will be aged 65 and older. These numbers call for major reframe of policies across many sectors, including workforce development, community service, and postsecondary education itself. Many older adults are saying that they are planning on continuing to work through the traditional years of retirement. This necessitates a need to make sure that post secondary education is available to this group (Framing New Terrain: Older Adults & Higher Education, 2007).

As the population grows older there becomes more of a need for educational attainment to stretch beyond the traditional years in which one would think of it being. Older adults are playing a bigger and bigger role within our society and educating this group will benefit everyone involved. I feel that not only does there need to be a push to make sure that education institutions are offering opportunities to older adults there needs to be a campaign of information geared towards this group so that they know what is out their and available to them. The percentage of people in this age group taking advantage of post secondary education needs to be increased for the good of the overall workforce.

Education Disparity in America: Education has traditionally been regarded as a great equalizer in the United States because of its capability to lift less disadvantaged children and enhancing their probability to succeed as adults. As a great equalizer of conditions in the society, education has been regarded as the balance wheel of America's social machinery. Since the establishment of the first public school in the United States, there has been widespread

It is now recognized that individuals learn in different ways -- they perceive and process information in various ways. The learning styles theory suggests that the way that children acquire information has more to do with whether the educational experience is slanted toward their specific style of learning than their intelligence. The foundation of the learning styles methodology is based in the classification of psychological types. The research demonstrates that,

Social Studies How will the Current State of Education Effect my Future Profession? According to several sources, the current state of social studies is something less than ideal by most standards that would value a liberal education. Students have been polled about their knowledge of subjects such as geography and history for many generations which offers a perspective not only on the current state of education in the social sciences, but

This type of measurement is best used when the data has also been captured at the ordinal or ratio level as the orthogonality of the data set is reliable (Marshall, Ruiz, Bredillet, 2008). Extrapolating statistics to a broader population is also dependent on the approach of randomization used. When a solid methodology, sampling frame and approach to randomization have all been defined, inferential data is often used in organizations

One of the most common fallacies is to confuse correlation with causation, but the two are actually distinct. My demonstrating that construction of snowmen and outbreak of acne occur simultaneously does not mean that snowmen produce acne. It may imply an underlying matter, such as the snow itself may contain some component that may instigate the outbreak, or the children who build the snowmen may be particularly vulnerable to

Again, the presidential campaign acted as a catalyst for technology adoption, and led to first-time social networking users getting online. It also led to existing users creating additional profiles as well. On the third most significant variable in determining the effects of social networks on which candidate would eventually win Q39. Do you have a single profile on each site, or do you have multiple profiles on one web site?
