Budget Proposal Strategy in California Criminal Justice Agency

Budgeting is one of the essential professional skills that help plan the future. Knowing the strategies required in budgeting is an advantage since it can help an organization manage its finances and improve on financing skills. This can help in future opportunities of work, in the maintenance of a reasonable budget, tips of budget strategies are essential. In short, a budget strategy is an approach that is, in most cases, formal and helps in managing particular fund collection. Other uses of budgeting strategies are to assist in reaching financial goals; this ensures that the accounting departments can pay for the expenses and invest in future opportunities. There are several budgeting strategies, and it depends on the goals to be achieved for choosing a specific budget strategy.

Additionally, the process of creating long-range budgets within one year is referred to as strategic budgeting. The intention of doing this is to assist in developing plans supporting visions of an entity that are long-range. In our case, where our primary reference is the criminal justice agencies, the budgeting is done annually (Stojkovic et al., 2014). Therefore, it is possible that the activities planned in this period may not be completed within that time using a single budget hence the need for a multi-year initiative. Getting involved in strategic budgeting will be a core component in our research of this assignment. This will make the criminal agencies achieve long-term improvements in strategic positioning.

The strategic budget plan of concern, in this case, is that of California in the fiscal year 2020-2021 and 2021-2022. Below is a budget plan overview of California.

I consider this budget strategy an essential issue in my selected criminal justice agency because it provides $13.8 billion for Californias rehabilitation and corrections department (Patri, 2021). This increases eleven percent from the previous fiscal year 2020-2021. The above strategy will help in the development of a budget proposal. The proposals are crucial since they provide the accounting department with a basis to ensure the continuity of the criminal agencies (Patri, 2021). The budget proposal gives detailed information concerning the expected expenditures and the reasons for those expenses. Developing a budget is a time-consuming task; that is why a budget proposal is prepared prior. This is when one realizes that a budget is a critical component of the entire project. The two work hand in hand, and a budget strategy complements a budget proposal.

In conclusion, it is great to have a budget strategy that will help develop a budget proposal. A strategic budget has less detailed revenue and is less concerned with the expense items found in the annual budget. Instead, the items are represented in smaller numbers, focusing significantly on goals. The budget, therefore, helps to focus on competitive threats, growth options, and risk management that help in focusing on future developments.
