Business asks for formal communication, which entails official and technical writing. The basis of writing should be founded on learning what is relevant to the topic and who has explored the topic before the business writer himself. Literature, theory, and social research are three fundamental that lay the groundwork for business and technical writing.

The literature review is important since it discerns who has investigated the research question before and what evidence he has been able to find beforehand (Understanding the Role of Literature Review, n.d.). The researcher must know about the previous research and what purpose was served in the prior studies, the perspectives laid down by the early scholars, and the approach to conclude. It also offers the gaps that the current research would aim to investigate that were not discussed in detail with consistent controversies. Also, keywords play a major role in identifying the desired research type. The keyword inclusion would direct the required research to be found so that online databases, libraries, and all pertinent Internet sources only look for the specific data. For this purpose, library catalogs are widely used. Numerous books are shelved that are hard to find otherwise, but with the catalog, the titles, authors, and topics are convenient...…types of theories and their direct impact keeps the research intact so that the researcher does not sway from his objective, and the social issues are inspected in depth for accurate generalizations. Positivism, realism, interpretivism, and symbolic interactionism serve as magnifying glasses that the researcher might use from time to time to scrutinize the social concerns for evaluation with integrity.

The selected sources clarify that validation from literature review, the directional approach offered by theory, and testing of variables under quantitative and qualitative research for investigating social issues is imperative for bringing authenticity, reliability and validity.
