Mauritius, a small island in the Indian Ocean, is undergoing a program that will revolutionize their energy use, and could be implemented in other areas, too. They have created a program to generate cleaner, renewable energy, and worked on a program to reduce demand, too. Another author notes, "On the demand side, the government will act to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, encourage greater efficiency in the use of energy by enterprises, offices, homes, in the public sector, in the transport sector and in all hotels" (Ackbarally 2008, 61).
