Exploring the Leadership Practice Experience: Planning, Implementing, and Evaluating a Continuing Education Program on Cerebral Palsy

Introduction

Cerebral palsy is a neurological illness that affects children. The exact cause is unknown, but it is believed to be the result of damage to the developing brain. Cerebral palsy can occur before, during, or after birth. Symptoms include muscle stiffness, problems with coordination and balance, and difficulty with fine motor skills. There is no cure for cerebral palsy, but early intervention and therapy can help improve function and quality of life. In many cases, children with cerebral palsy are able to live relatively normal lives. However, the condition can be debilitating in severe cases. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cerebral palsy affects approximately 2 in every 1,000 live births in the United States each year. It is one of the most common childhood disabilities. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential for maximizing function and quality of life for children with this condition. This paper will discuss how as a leader I can plan, implement and evaluate a continuing education program on cerebral palsy. The main point of the program will be to help nurses understand the main challenges that affect people with cerebral palsy and their families, and what they can do to help patients face those challenges.

Review of Literature and Best Practices

Continuing education is essential for nurses to stay up-to-date on best practices and changes in the field. However, designing and implementing a continuing education program that meets the needs of nurses can be challenging. When planning a continuing education program, it is important to consult with an expert in the field to ensure that the content is relevant and accurate (Jyotishi). Once the program has been created, it is important to promote it to nurses and provide clear instructions on how to sign up and participate. Finally, it is critical to evaluate the success of the program and make changes as needed. Leaders should try to ensure that their continuing education programs are successful and meet the needs of nurses, and these steps can help.

Stakeholders in continuing education for nurses on cerebral palsy are not just nurses but also patients and their families. Therefore, the leader has to consider the patient and family members too when providing this instruction to nurses (Rouleau et al., 2019).

Planning

A successful continuing education program for nurses requires careful planning and leadership. Nurses must be able to identify their own learning needs and objectives, and the program must be designed to meet those needs. The program should also be flexible, so that it can be adapted as new information and developments arise. Leaders should also ensure that there is adequate funding for the program, so that it can be run effectively. But the most important planning step is to make sure there is a clear and concise goal for the program. Without a specific goal in mind, it will be difficult to develop an effective plan of action. This is what is meant by fostering a culture of learning and education, according to Coffey and White (2019).

Furthermore, they should ensure that nurses have the time and opportunity to participate in the program. Leaders should ensure that they have planned in advance to bracket out time for evaluating the program regularly to ensure that it is meeting its objectives and providing value for nurses. In terms of planning, these are the best practices for leaders to follow to ensure that a continuing education program for nurses is successful.

Implementing

First and foremost, it is important to make sure everyone understands the goal for the program. Once the goal has been established and communicated, it is necessary to put together a team of experienced and qualified nurses who can help to carry out the program. This team should be able to provide guidance and support to participants throughout the duration of the program. Additionally, it is important to create a learning environment that is conducive to learning. This means ensuring that there are ample resources and materials available, as well as a comfortable space for nurses to participate in activities (Chicca & Shellenbarger, 2018).

It is also important to keep in mind resilience when teaching (Wei et al., 2019). How nurses learn over the course of the program is just as important as what they learn. The more suitable the...…and I have a lot of experience in learning about and teaching on cerebral palsy. Critical thinking is the process of thoughtfully analyzing and evaluating something in order to make a well-informed decision. It involves suspend judgment in order to objectively consider all possible options and outcomes before coming to a conclusion. Critical thinking skills are important in all areas of life, from personal relationships to professional success. In order to think critically, one must be able to question assumptions, gather evidence, and consider different points of view. The ability to think critically can help you solve problems more effectively, make better decisions, and understand complex issues. With practice, anyone can learn to think critically and improve their ability to navigate the challenges of life. I feel that I have done well in learning the processes of critical thinking and can apply this skill as a leader.

I plan to involve others in the initiative by using transformational leadership. Transformational leadership is a type of leadership that involves inspiring and motivating others to achieve a shared goal. This type of leader is often able to create a vision and engage others in working towards it (Collins et al., 2020). Transformational leaders also typically have strong communication and interpersonal skills, which they use to build relationships and trust. In the context of change management, transformational leaders play an important role in engaging others in the process. They can help employees to see the need for change and understand how it will benefit them. Transformational leaders can also motivate employees to take action and support them as they adapt to new ways of working. As a result, transformational leadership can be an essential tool in successfully managing change within an organization.

Conclusion

Planning, implementing and evaluating a continuing education program for nurses on the challenges that patients and families face due to cerebral palsy is important for a leader to consider. Leaders have to have skills like communication, understanding the subject, and the ability to involve others. It is a process that relies as much on assessment and evaluation as it does planning and implementing. Teaching is a continuing process, and one should always request feedback from…
