Loma Linda serves the world community through promoting living healthy including sharing the Good News. The consistent commitment of the university to serve both local and international community with education and a spiritual touch is what inspired my zeal to seek to become a member of the institution (LLU, n.d.).My central objective, since graduating from MCPHS, is to upscale my grades so as to present a formidable application for admission into the neonatal and pediatric practitioner program for nurses. I'm currently enrolled at Regis College; pursuing a part time nursing study program. I have continuously participated in the practical application of nursing skills and have gained plenty of practical experience in my encounters at health outlets. I have rendered my services as a pediatric medical assistant at Harvard Vanguard for six years. I have had a chance to interact and engage with patients, medical teams and families of my patients. I have also built a close work-relationship with all that I interact with at the hospital. Such experience is very fulfilling to me. Talking to, getting to feel along with the patients, listening to their concerns and working with other staffs in overcoming the daily challenges has granted me privileged experience that I could never derive from a classroom environment. I also learnt that patients feel at ease when they meet a familiar face at the hospital facility. I derive lots of pleasure and satisfaction when a family makes a request to have me treat their child.

This spiritual tradition can be traced back to my grandparents and was passed on to my immediate family. My grandfather embraced the teachings he learnt from the missionaries and relentlessly spread the gospel. He, of course, did a good job of planting the same seeds at home first. I grew up with an impartial view of everyone I met. I have always sought to stay steadfast in my beliefs while respecting people's differences
The most spiritual and rewarding aspect of working in the medical field is to have patients and their parents express their appreciation for the attention and care that I give them. This is the type of experience that motivates me to want to continue as a nurse practitioner despite the difficulties I have encountered so far. There is nothing more satisfying than to be able to help people in need and helping children is especially satisfying. I can think of many examples of where my involvement in a particular case was extremely helpful in the treatment of a child. Perhaps the incident that I have found to be most rewarding and the one that stands out in my memory occurred when a child with respiratory distress was brought into the examination room. The child was wheezing quite heavily and it was clear that the child was in distress. As I was getting a reading of the child's blood level oxygen with the pulse oximeter, I could hear the child wheezing badly. I decided that this particular case needed immediate attention and I found the pediatrician and explained the situation to him. The pediatrician agreed with me and examined the child immediately. The child's mother was extremely thankful for the immediate attention we gave the child and was impressed with the way we handled this particular case. It is cases like these that make…
