World Health Organization (WHO) does not only regard health as the absence of disease but also the physical and mental well-being of the body. The ecological perspectives that play in the surroundings of human beings and interrelate with their existence for sustainability also play a critical role in maintaining health equilibrium (McCartney et al., 2019). However, a complete state of well-being is expected to be achieved with social participation in governmental policies and initiatives for healthcare. First, it is imperative to know how people perceive health themselves as self-reporting could be different for different individuals based on their life experiences, social contexts, and cultural backgrounds. The ideal standards may differ aspirationally since the health-specific needs might be subjected to comparisons. The capacity to function and participate in social activities would be better or worse in different population segments, reflective of the changed contextualization of health phenomena from the actual norms of health perceptions. For the fullest achievement of health, the human bodys mental, physical, and emotional needs need to be fulfilled with cooperation from the public and the protection of their lives. The governments responsibility is to provide adequate healthcare that should be in line with social measures and agree to evidence-based practices.
For gathering informed opinions from the public and inciting participatory mechanisms from the government to make effective decisions about public health, there are barriers to obtaining data from the public. Telephone-based surveys for attaining public opinions or surveys with low response rates could cause problems for the government to decide on interventions that could not truly represent the population. The reliability and accuracy of opinions and survey results could be other challenges involved in the process. An effective mix of methods needs to be found for gathering public data so that preventive strategies with public participation can be guaranteed.
