Criminal Justice: Logic Model

It is mandatory to keep funding the communities that have the potential of providing economic contribution. Grant funding is a way of acknowledging those communities efforts and praising them for their endeavors to make citizens lives better. The following paper aims at developing a grant funding proposal for a crime prevention program targeted towards businesses of a specific community. Particular areas of the proposal will be discussed in subsequent sections of the paper for clarifying the requirements and teamwork strategies vital for the proposal.

Common Grant Types

Four major categories of grant funding commonly include competitive, formula, continuation, and pass-through funding (eCivis, 2020).in the first type of funding, the recipients are not pre-determined as a team of reviewers check who would be the best eligible ones. In the second type, the fund obtainers are pre-determined for accurate allocations to the eligible ones so that minimum requirements can be known beforehand. In the third type, the funding grants have to be renewed each year for which the exiting eligible applicants offer the new eligibilities. In the fourth and final type, the states are given funds by the federal governments to be distributed to the local citizen so that allocation of the formulas is warranted.

The federal government could use the common types of grants are categorical grants and block grants (Adam Smith, n.a.). The grant suitable for the crime prevention program targeting businesses in the community would require a block grant since they are for developing a specific community. They need authorized legislation for crime control for the flourishing of the businesses without the threat of being at risk. Additionally, in the four types mentioned earlier, crime prevention for the communities and businesses is carried out by BJA, which comes under the second type, formula funding.

The possible sources from where the grant could be obtained for our proposal could be the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG), which serves to underwrite projects to reduce crime and improve public safety (BJA, US Department of Justice, n.a.; Gist, 2000). The community would be able to encourage the businesses to formulate their crime response programs with this fund. Also, private businesses within the community could help with the financial aid needed for the crime control proposal.

Agencies that May Grant the Fund

One of the funding agencies is LLEBG, and the Community Prevention Grant Program collaborates with the community to reduce crime and violence in the community. Although this could be considered a sole community-based grant agency, it could be contacted to give the reason for bettering the community since the protection of businesses would favor the community in return.

The 2020 Community Crime Prevention Grant Program would be target the community business as it includes...…would be measured in terms of what we do and whom we contact for support. Our actions would encompass neighborhood watch, facilitation of running this program, and community education programs for being on the watch for criminal activities regarding business such as theft and shoplifting, etc. We reach community support agencies, police departments, and grant funding agencies for better fortification and strengthening of the community business against crime and the resultant losses.

The short term outcomes include awareness and knowledge about community and business crimes, and defense against them, change of behavior in citizens as they would be alert for any possibilities of crime within the society, increased motivation to do something good for the people, and gaining skills for practices that should be conducted in the entire process, such as in neighborhood watch. Medium-term outcomes include a cooperative social active against crime, community partnership, early detection and prevention of crime, along with preservation to reduce vulnerability for small businesses and start-ups. Businesses would be able to have their safeguard to detect and prevent criminal movements. Long-term outcomes comprise financial, economic, and social welfare that would result from the businesses. If these businesses are protected with audits, software for surveillance, and people who should be responsible for protecting the businesses. Also, it would add value to the civic sense if community businesses are secured so that empowerment…
