Buddhism is a religion which is adopted by millions of people all over the world, may be because it is practical, technical and liberating. Dalai Lama is a Buddhist leader, widely known as the Ethic of Compassion, has made a discussion on 'nying je chenmo', compassion. According to Dalai Lama, a true compassion is regardless of any condition or effortlessness, which involves one being there for the other with the complete intention of stopping him from undergoing the suffering under which the sufferer has fallen (Lama, 2006).

When a person reaches to the position of 'nying', he seems to be at the highest level of compassion, under which he cannot even bare the slightest degree of suffering imposed upon others and immediately takes action to stop it. Now a day's all of us are busy in our daily routines, doing jobs or studying or carrying out other materialistic tasks, and we seem to be ignorant towards the sufferings of the world. We all should mould our lives in such a way that it should be open for all others (Lama, 2006).

Nobody is asking us to give up our personal lives for the sake of others but at least we can give a little consideration towards the sufferers. After providing help to sufferers the givers also feel happy. If we completely close down to struggle for 'nying je' then we will head for a society which would be filled with violence and suffering only (Lama, 2006).

The society in which we are residing now days is very different from that in which Dalai Lama lived. Our possessions are much higher in value and we live in a more chaotic country. It would be difficult for an American to work for the welfare of others by keeping one's own personal interest aside. Before lending a hand of compassion and affection to any person, it is essential to ponder over the return we can get from that person (Lama, 2006).

Our actions of kindness and generosity towards any stranger or enemy are less likely to bear fruitful results. Moreover, in such cases, there lies a high probability of getting our own selves indulged in suffering by taking part in the suffering of others. The question arises pertaining to the positive outcomes achieved by helping others, as it only involves a high risk of indulging ourselves in misery (Lama, 2006).

At times, we sacrifice our own interests and comforts in rendering true compassion and happiness to others. In order to adopt qualities of forgiveness, patience, tolerance, and love, it isn't essential to completely ignore our personal interests and desires. These qualities have their roots in nying je, which implies that we will attain happiness in proportion to the compassion depicted by us. The true desire of helping others fosters a higher degree of love and affection within one's own self, which ultimately develops confidence and strength. The aspirations of helping others in their bad times make one stronger and eventually make our hearts more peaceful and happier (Lama, 2006).

The lack of compassion involves the risk of making our activities destructive. When our actions become devoid of love, compassion and affection, they actually become hurtful and selfish for the people living around us. If we get reluctant in striving for nying je, it will eventually destroy ourselves and our society as well. Love and compassion are the core pillars of all spiritual qualities as they bring external and internal peace to our minds (Lama, 2006).

Those who pass by just watch from the corner, they are interested to help but do not want to get involved. No one is interested in taking measures, despite of the fact several individuals are being murdered each day in the various poorer regions throughout the world. According to Lama (2006), this world will become a safer place, by just acquiring simple behavior and applying these qualities on oneself and on our earth.
A model of unlimited love seems to be far away from how we are living today. It is not possible to administer it on ourselves, even if one would, it will not make any difference. Our entire society will never be inclined by an idealistic individual wanting to make this world an improved place having a peaceful and pleasant environment. Though it might get improved, a distinct change can be seen in a person who applies qualities like love, tolerance, forgiveness and patience in every aspect of his life (Lama, 2006).

If each individual tries to improve oneself and show compassion to others, it would result in causing changes throughout the world. Instead of being self-centered who takes interest only in oneself and one own life, thinking about others makes an individual stronger and happier. There are people who care about others and give priority to others over themselves and such people make world a peaceful place for living. Therefore, people should follow the deeds of "nving je" to be good humans and make the society peaceful (Lama, 2006).

Thesis Question: The word compassion means to feel sympathy or kindheartedness towards a person along with his pains, joys and hopes. But according to Dalai Lama, normally people feel sympathy with the weaker ones like disable or poor and this feeling does not arise for the people we envy, why?

According to H.H the Dalai Lama, when one desists himself from hurting someone's feeling and expectations it's then the ethics start. By ethics we actually mean a complete compassionate feeling for others. It's a general saying that everything is mortal and all humans are equal in the eye of God. Every human wants to be happy and contented in his life and avoid sorrows and guilt.

The intensions are ethical if they are for good cause and unethical if the acts are harmful for making others unhappy. To determine the ethical content of one's intentions, two terms are used, motivation or deontology and result or teleology. H.H the Dalai Lama said that one cannot get the positive result from any negative act. So, now the question is how should a man lead a prosperous life?

This is a fact that humans are related to one another somehow or the other from the very beginning when they came into existence. Everybody wants to live happily and peacefully and try to avoid misdeeds and sufferings. Therefore, empathy has become the main ethical content of one's life. By empathy it means that how a person feels for others' desires and needs and is considered the most valuable act or quality a person possesses.

Thus, empathy is considered a complete compassionate feeling of a human being (karuna, bodhicitta, nyingje, tonglen, ahimsa loving kindness, charis, hesed, and altruism). To reduce the suffering of others and raise happiness, we ensure compassion for others. It is an emotion, which results in the action of wisely giving our affection, loving-kindness, generosity, goodwill, time, and sympathy. Moreover, compassion based on the ethical conduct and behavior is a secular and religious ethics. Compassionate service provided to friends and family, based on our Great Wisdom-Tradition, is universal key to happiness of humans (Lama, 2000).

According to H. H Dalai Lama, in order to be recognized and taken seriously by the world we need to be practical on the spiritual values because every religion demands for the spiritual teachings. The act of expressing the compassion and loving kindness in every action, the sentiments, believes, faith, concepts, or simply moral restraint to avoid giving harm to anyone, is spiritual practice. Moreover, the ethical values are based on spiritual practice, whereas, the ethical practice is an outcome of spiritual practice. In other words, morally or ethically 'correct'…
