Philosophy of Leadership and Innovation
Introduction
Nursing leadership is designed to influence and inspire other nurses to serve selflessly in their duty line (Curtis, de Vries & Sheerin, 2011). Leadership role comes with many responsibilities, including motiving team members and helping them contemplate the organizational goal. A leader's success is measured by the success of the team and not individual actions. A good leader's characteristics include being supportive, encouraging, and inspirational, but all these qualities should be demonstrated in line with today's best practice. Many changes are happening in the nursing industry, so it is important to adopt modern ways of doing things. Leading by example and keeping the team updated ensures a rise in staff retention, fewer medical errors, and better patient service.
The governing principles of the nursing profession are aimed at serving patients in a better way. Maintaining a high level of discipline and treating patients with a heart full of compassion contribute to a positive patient outcome. Effective leadership focuses on transforming staff and organization into a better version. A positive transformation is achieved through setting clear goals, proper management of processes, and creating a favorable working environment. Before focusing on operations and organizational structures, an effective leader should begin by putting straight staff members' mindsets. It is crucial to kill the nursing care industry's inner selfish person to treat patients as you would like to be treated. Elevating followers' minds to the level of being selfless is not an easy task, but it is an unavoidable exam for leaders in the nursing discipline. A good leader should be persuasive and optimistic and should not force people to pursue goals. Transformation comes with a lot of rebellion, and leaders must go beyond the call of duty to convince followers of the change's importance. TFL style of leadership comes with a significant work adjustment environment, which is why the staff members are sometimes not comfortable with the implementation part. The goals should be owned by all individuals in the organization but not leaders only. A sense of belonging is critical in pushing a goal in an organization. If transformational leadership is taken positively by an organization, improvements and efficiency are recorded across all departments (Thomas, 2016).A requirement to being a transformational leader include demonstrating a chain of characteristics that are action-based rather than verbal. Changes should be noticed in all organization levels from the team level, departmental, and management level. All these changes can only be implemented by a leader who can motivate team members, influence them, encourage innovation, and remain considerate. Applying the four leadership components is key in streamlining team members' mindset to the organization's goals. Each component can be viewed as an independent entity but applying them all shows more impressive results. (Renjith, Renu & George, 2015).

The Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a package designed to train leaders in nursing. The category of nurses produced by this program work either in a leadership role or clinical setting upon completing their study. Having DNP nurses in a leadership position is a sure way to achieve a positive nursing care change. Essential II focuses on applying organizational leadership and collaborating with other nurses in ensuring quality service delivery. The kind of leadership trained in this level is transformational leadership, and upon completion of studies, a certificate is issued. Significant advancements are happening in the modern world. The program ensures that relevancy is observed at all costs. The training aims to ensure the nursing professions unlock all their full potential at their workplace through practicing and leading others to success (Thomas, 2016).
Conclusion
Transformational leadership is the art of influencing team members to associate with the organization's goal and participate in making the goal a reality. The first step is writing a clear goal, followed by the mission, and ensuring every staff member has read and understood the organization's direction. The second step is putting the mindset right to ensure everyone is focused on achieving the goal. The third is getting dirty in doing the action. At this stage, a lot of motivation and appreciation is needed, and leaders should be keen to congratulate good performers while at the same time encouraging those left behind.
