Abstract

Natural ecosystems are on the verge of collapse. This study addresses various questions related to environmental conservation and measures that can be adopted to facilitate the process. This study shows that rules and regulations that help to protect the ecosystem have changed the entire perception of the ecosystem in the world. This study also shows that Green Revolution as an agricultural initiative is designed to increase the output of agricultural activities.

Module 01 Question 01: Preservation of the existing ecosystems

Various measures have been put in order to modify and contain the natural state of the ecosystem. Preservation is one of the approaches that have been used to foster equitable management of the ecosystem. Through preservation, it has become evident that the ecosystem has taken a different understanding from the avenue of human perception. For instance, rules and regulations that help to protect the ecosystem have changed the entire perception of the ecosystem globally. Initially before the establishment of preservation approaches, the ecosystem was getting devastated gradually. Nonetheless, modification has come with the introduction of laws and regulations that work towards protection and preservation of the available avenues in the market.

Through the rules and regulations created, the ecosystem has achieved a new state of protection in the society. For instance, the living and non-living matter has been protected through the establishment of safer sites where they are able to thrive in their natural state. It is evident that most of the approaches and modifications in this field are aimed at protecting the existing species of the existing terms and conditions in the natural world. More modification is reflected on how the world has taken concern over the importance of having a difference between the manufactured features and those that are natural.

Awareness has been heightened in various parts of the world. Awareness refers to the creation of knowledge over the importance of having a palatable ground of holding the essence of having the ecosystem dwell within its natural sense. With the creation of awareness, it has been made possible for all the concerned parties to take part in protecting the rights and avenues of the ecosystem. Through the creation of awareness, the ecosystem has been given a prominent perception from those who would be been agents of change and destruction. For instance, the establishment of equitable avenues of protecting the interests of the components of the ecosystem lies on the rudimentary measures put through awareness activities.

The ecosystem has been presented as one of the facets that are under threat globally. The ecosystem is presented as an endangered species that requires intense protection. Preservation measures are directed at establishing the best forms of approaches that will help to protect the ecosystem in the universe. For instance, the rules and regulations established under this category are directed at establishing the best fields of protection of the ecosystem and its components globally (Woodward, 2011).

Module 01 Question 02: Laws of Thermodynamics

The laws of thermodynamics are concerned with preservation of energy from the environment. The three laws of thermodynamics are concerned with preservation of everything that is obtained from the environment. The law relates conservation of energy within an equilibrium state. The law deals with systems, one of the systems being the natural ecosystem globally. The ecosystem is a system that should be protected in whatever way possible. According to the law, the changes in the internal energy of the ecosystem, since it is closed, should be equal to the total amount of heat supplied to the ecosystem. This should be less the work done by the ecosystem to its surrounding. In short, the law postulates that the environment should not lose any form of energy into the outside. All the energy that is within should be consumed without destruction of the innate balance. Aspects that destroy the atmosphere and the ecosystem like global warming are declared unwanted and not working with regard to the law.

The other laws of thermodynamics relate protection of the ecosystems. Systems are meant to provide energy without losing their normal states in the environment. In order to foster equitable preservation of energy, it is crucial to have stable state avenues that help to relay how different avenues of growth and development within the environment are managed. It is easy to preserve the environment using the laws of thermodynamics. Taking the ecosystem as the system in thermodynamics, all the energy produced by the system should be protected without any loss.

With such considerations, it becomes easy to have activities and occurrences like hunger, global warming, and biomagnifications under firm protection. Hunger arises due to imbalanced states within the systems. Such states should not arise since they promote in equilibrium in the system. Moreover, global warming is a fact that imbalances the normal existence of stability within the systems at hand. The protection measures that deal with global warming and hunger have common relationships with those concerned with creating a balance in thermodynamic systems. For instance, various reactions like adiabatic are concerned with the creation of a balance in the systems. Such systems represent the ecosystem (Miller & Spoolman, 2012).

Module 02 Question 01: Example of an environment whose carrying capacity may have been exceeded already

Overpopulated environment

This refers to an environment that has its carrying capacity exceeded. The capacity of the natural environment is contained in its natural state. Overpopulating with human settlements and animal use stretches on the usability of the available resources in the environment. In the end, it becomes hard for the environment to provide for the living matter. When such a state has been attained in the environment, it becomes hard to have a good management of the environment. Overpopulation can result due to the high number of people or animals dwelling in a given space. Overpopulation is rudimentary to the existence of depletion in the environment. In many cases, it has been hard to manage human or animal and plant matter in the environment. Human occupation of a given place declares its resources and natural state at unstable conditions. When such an environment cannot manage to provide all the necessary food and other materials to the animals, it results in overexploitation of the few available resources. In most cases, it becomes easy to have a finite stat in which the animals will stop consuming materials from the environment because they feel that the environment is running out of these materials.

Overpopulation leads to destruction of several features within the ecosystem. For instance, plants and animals, which were surviving in this environment, will have to change their places of residence. In order to live within a given state of management, it is relevant ensure that the resources available are enough to the present environmental agents. Animals consume products from the environment. On the other hand, further necessities like plants are destroyed within an overpopulated environment.

Human over-population results in further destruction and pollution of the ecosystem. For instance, overpopulation results in pollution of the environment through waste materials and gases that are released by the occupants. In most cases, it is hard to develop and foster increased productivity within an environment that is overpopulated. Overpopulation has often been regarded as an immediate enemy to the existence stabile and sustainable environment. The ecosystem is dependent on various aspects from human contributions to animal contributions. Furthermore, overpopulation results in stoppage of the growth process that is attained naturally by the ecosystem (Zeaman, 2001).

Module 02 Question 02: Green Revolution

Green Revolution is an agricultural initiative that is designed at increasing the output of agricultural activities globally. Food production is one of the tentative aspects in human and animal life. Equitable food production serves to better human and animal health in the ecosystem. Moreover, equitable production of food materials is a healthy issue that promotes the health of the environment. In most cases, food production has not been sustainable in the environment. Failed sustainability has resulted in the destruction of the environment because of human search for alternative processes and ways of getting food materials for use. In the modern agriculture activities, Green Revolution has been a call to increase food production.

Green Revolution concerns intensive and large-scale production of food materials. Through plantations and forest-like settlements, Green Revolution assists in creation a scenario where two things are done at the same time. In most cases, Green Revolution has been a significant boost in food production. With the use of the available resources to facilitate food production, it has been easy to access food materials globally. On the other hand, the environment has regained its initial avenues of sustainability and health.

Since its establishment in 1943, Green Revolution has been a significant contributor of food availability around the globe. Most developed nations have benefited a terrific deal through practice of Green Revolution programs. The program has been a significant boost in protecting the interest of the environment while providing enough food materials for plants and animals. The existence of an equitable environment for production is a focus that is given many highlights when it comes to management of Green Revolution. Furthermore, through the effects and influences of Green Revolution, many ecosystems have regained their initial stages of production and sustainability. Human pollution on environments and other practices like overpopulating have been reduced with the embrace of Green Revolution in the environment.

Green Revolution has been a tremendous success in eradicating lack of food. As depicted in many developed nations, food production has increased because of the interventions that have been adopted through Green Revolution. In many developed nations, Green Revolution has resulted in increased food production. Together with food production, the environment has been sustained except through manufacturing sectors. Food production, being the main intention behind Green Revolution, has been boosted globally food production programs (Randhawa, 1974).

Module 03 Question 01: Endangered Species Act

The Endangered Species Act of 1973 is one of the many government laws in the United States of America that were passed in the late 1970s. The law was made legal when the then president Richard Nixon signed it in 1973. The intention of the law was directed at protecting the endangered species that was facing extinction in the United States of America and the world as a whole. The endangered species had succumbed to slow growth over the years that had passed. In order to protect the interests of these species, the Endangered Species Act was made legal as part of the economic growth changes hailed towards the development of the United States of America. The Endangered Species Act is administered by two federal agencies like the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration NOAA, together with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service FWS.

The Endangered Species Act had several walls or pillars that supported for the health of the environment. Most of these walls have been successful. The health of the environment was upon protection of the common grounds that were perceived as manageable and protective to a number of species that were facing extinction in the natural habitat. The Endangered Species Act gave authority to the determination and making lists of the endangered species that had faced imminent threats. A number of species like the bison, passenger pigeon, whooping crane, and many others were facing extinction in the country. The Endangered Species Act provided for protection against any unauthorized taking, transportation, ownership, and sale of the endangered species within and outside the country. The forces within the law protected these species from being used by human activities that were directed at bringing change and management to the natural ecosystem in the United States of America.

The Endangered Species Act gave authority to the government to make acquisitions of land over which the endangered species could be protected for a common use. This was another successful adjudication. The law gave way to the establishment of cooperative agreements together with aid that was directed at the establishment of equitable species for protecting and caring for the endangered species in the country. The law gave authority to many agencies that had a direct influence on the nature of change that was expected within the natural ecosystem in the country. Parts of the acquisitions were land and water conservation areas that were to be of immense importance to the establishment and a continued conservation of the endangered species in the country.

The criminal and civil rights had to be assessed in the case that they had participated in violation of the act that had been passed. The act itself had been passed over protection and care for the animals in the society. The society had been trusted to offer the necessary support that ensured protection of the endangered species. In order to have enough exploits in the general performance of the Endangered Species Act, the act provided for motivation of people who were active in bringing out criminals who were part of the human society endangering the species. For instance, the law provided for rewards to people who identified other people participating in violating the laws that protected the existence and health of the flora and fauna in and outside the United States of America (Stanford Environmental Law Society, 2001).

Module 03 Question 02: Threat to the survival of gorillas, chimpanzees, and other African wildlife species

Poaching is a rampant activity in most parts of Africa. Poaching involves hunting of wild animals in order to engage them and products in illegal trade. Numerous poachers and hunters have threatened the existence and survival of many wild animals like giraffes, gorillas, and chimpanzees. Such animals are valuable in their products. Poaching continues to be one of the main features and activities that have resulted in the destruction of the environment. In order to foster equitable management of the environment and these animals, poachers have been warned through existing laws and regulations. Nonetheless, they are still participating in activities that deter growth and development of chimpanzees, gorillas, and many other wild animals in Africa.

There are gradual deaths among many wild animals in and out of Africa. Many deaths have resulted from poaching. Animal health is an issue that has not been given enough consideration in most parts of Africa. For instance, gorillas, chimpanzees, and many other wild animals have succumbed to death without any action being taken in order to cater for them. Programs that foster animal health and living standards have not been proved to sustain enough preservation of these animals in the environment. In Africa, animal death has not been given enough attention as it has been done in some western countries. The fact that these animals live in the natural forests makes it difficult to monitor their health and growth status in the environment.

Poaching has resulted in destruction of the environment. Environmental destruction and pollution is another vital factor that has contributed to the existence and survival of many wild animals globally. In Africa, most habitats have been destroyed or pouted. The survival of many animals has been subjected to intensified attention since the environment in which they live has been destroyed gradually. Human activities have intensified and resulted in the destruction of the natural habitats for many wild animals. Furthermore, existence of natural destructive features like desertification and drought results in death of many wild animals like gorillas, chimpanzees, and giraffes.

It is hard to protect the present environments because of the increase in human population globally. Increase in human populating has resulted in the destruction of the natural habitats that are used by many wild animals. The destructive features that are meant to bring change are being depleted in the environment. This is also coupled with an increase in the need for more food materials and space for human growth and development. Such factors have made preservation of the natural habitats and wild animals difficult (Corwin, 2009).

Module 03 Question 03: Cancer prevention strategies

Basing on the causative agents, cancer is turning out to have significance on the natural lifestyles of human beings. Although some of the causatives are natural and implicated through the natural immune systems, human lifestyles and activities related to this are relevant and contributory to prevention of cancer. Cancer is a dangerous disease globally and hence needs particular attention. The fact that the disease is hard to be treated makes it more difficult to access equitable sources of management within the human life. It is like protecting the environment in order to foster prosperity of the world life. Through such ways, cancer prevention has a likelihood of being increased by almost fifty percent.
